From: "Colin Robinson" <ccrobinson@hotmail.com> Subject: Petty/Browne Show Info Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 17:13:43 +0000 I just wanted to give some of you the heads up. The scene is mellow, no pat downs at Tacoma, and security only messed with the smokers. Jackson Browne came out about 10-15 minutes early (At 7:18 and the tickets said 7:30). JB played a 62 minute set. Tom Petty came out about 9pm. He played 1 hour 45 mins than took a setbreak, and came out and did 31 more mins. 2:15 total time (wont fit on a 60M but I used my JB tape for the encore). Enjoy....Both bands are doing a mix of old a new. and the sound is great on this tour... From: Sam Upton <sam.upton@verizon.net> Subject: Help : MBHO 603a, Sony POC-DA12P cable and DMIC-20 Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 12:54:16 -0500 A wile back I bought MBHO 603a mics, Sony POC-DA12P cable and DMIC-20 and finally went to check them out. The DMIC-20 has a coax out on the AES out, so I have the coax going to the DA12P with the digital switch selected. When I power up the whole thing, I am getting really low levels, and the signal cuts on and off. I am pretty much a newby, and would appreciate any help\suggestions on what I might be doing wrong. Thanks, Sam U

From: Joe Thierry <jthierry@erols.com> Subject: EAC help needed Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 15:06:17 -0500 Hello, Recently I have been having problems burning with EAC. I have tried posting to the EAC mailing list but I did not get a response. Extracting with EAC works fine. Recently I have been getting the error message. Write error! write blocks: write error The message occured each time usually during the second track. Does anyone know what this means? Is there a listing of EAC error messages somewhere? Every thing was working fine until recently. The problem exists regardless of cd brand, speed, or the file I am trying to burn. Restarting the computer does not help. I have tried both a current and an old version and I have tried reinstalling EAC. I also have Adaptac Easy CD Creator installed and it works fine most but not all of the time. I ran the aspichk.exe the ASPI installation verification utility. It reported that the file aspienum.vxd was missing. It also stated ASPI was not properly installed. At this point I reinstalled Easy CD creator hoping that would reinstall the ASPI files. After this I ran aspichk.exe again and got the same results as before. My next step was to install FORSEASPI. After the installation I ran aspichk again the time all of the files were installed including the previously missing aspienum.vxd. The aspichk.exe utility also indicated that ASPI was properly installed and fully operational. Thinking that my problems were solved I tried to burn again with EAC. I had the same problem again this time. I am using a LG CED 8080B. on a Dell Dimension 4100 1Gb processer 512M Ram Win 98 I'm stumped does anyone have any thoughts on what would cause this? Thanks in advance, Joe

From: sec1968@ezl.com Subject: toad taping policy Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 19:51:46 -0600 Hi all. I checked with Toad The Wet Sprocket's tour manager the other day, to ask about a revised recording policy. The new policy will be audio only, no SBD, no video & no flash pix. It's rumored that Toad will go on a small tour late winter next year. If so, any and all shows can and should be taped. shane My home page http://www.ezl.com/~sec1968/ sec1968@ezl.com (home, ASP, DAT Heads, Glen Phillips, Toad & Train) shane.calhoon@anheuser-busch.com (work) 314-765-9187 (work)

The broadcast will feature a rare live performance by Alice Coltrane, a jazz pianist and harpist. The broadcast will also showcase saxophonist Ravi Coltrane's Quartet which includes Luis Perdona on piano, Darryl Hall on bass and E.J. Strickland on drums. This special performance marks Verve Music Group's release of the deluxe edition of A Love Supreme. This edition features Coltrane's only live performance of the entire A Love Supreme suite. Hank Jones Trio featuring Joe Lovano Wednesday November 13 at 8 pm Live from the Iridium "Listening to Hank Jones play piano, it's like listening to an orchestra," legendary bassist Charlie Haden once remarked. An orchestra full of sly virtuosity that finds in its past not only inspiration but also renewal. Jones is 76 now, playing at the top of his form and calling on a whole lifetime of talent. As The New York Times writes: "Mr. Jones, the dean of be-bop based pianists, is an extraordinary musician." This week Hank Jones features two time Grammy Award Winning Saxophonist JOE LOVANO for a very special and rare week of music! =============================================
From: Jackson Gibbs <gibbs@crater.net> Subject: Linux help? [redhat 8 && zoltrix] Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 19:55:47 -0800 Hey folks, I just installed RedHat 8 on my main PC this weekend! The Good News: I am so happy with it that I just can't go back to Windoze... The Bad News: This machine is my dat->pc transfer appliance and I can't seem to figure out the preferred method of doing digital transfers on Linux. I've put in my 60 minutes of initial web searching and have come up with a few starting points: - http://www.opensound.com/ - http://ardour.sourceforge.net/ - http://www.djcj.org/LAU/guide/index.php - http://www.alsa-project.org/ But rather than blunder through with trial and error right off I thought I'd consult the list. I'm running RedHat 8.0 with a Zoltrix card (that I've used under Windoze for a year+). I would sure like to take the simplest route at first if possible. Can anyone help or offer some pointers? Thanks very much, -Jackson BWT - I'm headed off to Zony Mash in 10 minutes, a free cd copy for anyone who can help me get it transferred to my pc ;-) Barring that, a free copy to the first respondant.

From: rob landis <pyramid_down@yahoo.com> Subject: re: Knitting Factory in L.A. Date: Mon, 11 Nov 2002 00:14:12 -0800 (PST) they're assholes. it's one of those venues where they want you to pay them exhorbitant amounts of money to tape. fortunately, security is lax. but don't expect to get board patches unless you're very sneaky or if you're very close with the band and the soundman. don't ask the venue people for permission. don't talk to them. IF you can be quiet about it, there's a DA20 in the soundguy's rig. no need for cables or even a deck. just bring a blank DAT. rob __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
