From: magichatr9@juno.com Subject: CD/DVDR burner Date: Mon, 11 Nov 2002 15:57:10 GMT Hi All Sorry for the lack of DAT content (see below). I am in the market for a new CD burner to replace my ancient 4x OE compaq burner. I know that Plextor is THE burner to get, but i would also like to be able to burn DVD movies and DVD quality audio CD's. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. From: Liam Sean Kennedy <liam@fedney.org> Subject: server move/AOL and plain text Date: Mon, 11 Nov 2002 13:23:23 -0500 As previously mentioned the machine hosting DAT-heads will have to move. The move is schedule for tonight, but this is still tentative. To my knowlege this will only require an hour or two of downtime so I do not plan to send any further updates. I have gathered some updated information about sending plain text with AOL versions > 5, although not for version 8. I am, however, lacking feedback from users. I can send info to AOL v6 & v7 users, if you promise to report on whether it works. AOL Web Email seems to work for most (and I think with default font/text it sends text), but I have no detailed reports. One possibility looks like it might be to use Netscape with AOL, so if someone would like to test this follow the below link for integrating Netscape with AOL and there is info about plain text in netscape from (dat-heads-help@datheads.phish.net), slightly dated, but probably still useful. http://members.aol.com/adamkb/aol/mailfaq/netscape6/ Thanks Sean
From: Thomas Bellanca <tomthumb@well.com> Subject: xtra dats for b&p Date: Mon, 11 Nov 2002 10:28:29 -0800 I've got a bunch of dats I've transferred to cdr that I'd like to pass on. From: WeAreThel@aol.com Subject: ISO: Tapers in these cities... (please help! : ) Date: Mon, 11 Nov 2002 19:44:33 EST I am still searching for more shows for their current tour (14 shows total). I taped 3 shows myself, in the northeast, but missed the first one at the 9:30 Club in D.C. (long story). I also was unable to make Boston last night and I doubt anyone else taped these.. So, I need a taper to get the following for me.. I can get them in on the guest list of either OK Go or Fountains of Wayne but I cannot get them permission for a stand or board access (you can try and ask when you get there, but expect to use mics in a hat). I am assuming security is pretty lax at these venues, as it was for me in the northeast.. so it's pretty easy stealthing. These bands have very few tapers--I am most interested in Fountains of Wayne. I am still looking for tapers for any of these shows. Dates remaining: Nov 12 Peabody's Cleveland, OH (early show--The New Deal to play after this show : ) Nov 13 the shelter detroit, MI Nov 15 Double Door Chicago, IL Nov 16 400 Bar Minneapolis, mn Nov 19 Roseland Portland, OR Nov 20 Crocodile Seattle, WA Nov 22 slims san francisco, CA Nov 23 Troubador Los Angeles, CA Nov 24 House of Blues Anaheim, CA *Support act for all shows except Chicago will be OKGO :: Chicago support is Motion City Soundtrack. Any help would be appreciated and I will pay you for your time and money spent. Thanks again, Tom Roach PromTheme@aol.com

From: "Tom Reizes" <treizes1@nycap.rr.com> Subject: FS: Sony D100 Date: Tue, 12 Nov 2002 01:03:36 -0500 For Sale: Sony D100 Asking Price: $250 Orignial box, packing materials, manual, 4.5v power adapter, 2 rechargeable sony batts and charger are all included. Caveat: The unit has a small crack in chasis near the battery compartment that occured in spite of the body glove and additional (albeit insufficient,) protective case. Other than the crack in the chasis, the unit is in very good cosmetic condition. Just returned from Pro Dig in February 2002 having been professionally cleaned it received a clean bill health (low error rates during 3hrs of continuous recording and playback.) This deck has always been the portable back-up for my DA-P1, thus the heads haven't seen much action other than live recording. Since the february cleaning I have used it on two occassions, the most recent being a jazz festival this past summer. In the heat and high humidity of New York it performed for well over 5 hours of recording. Reason for selling: I just don't get out to record as much anymore, certainly not enough to justify a portable back-up deck. Questions, sample recordings and photos available upon request. Please respond privately. Peace, tr
From: Todd Romero <todd@routeflap.net> Subject: FS: GP DMIC-20 w/batt Date: Tue, 12 Nov 2002 01:05:24 -0500 (EST) im pack-ratting too much gear! selling my Graham Patten DMIC-20 preamp/AD (44.1) im original owner. unit is in perfect condition. bought from oade 2yrs ago. recorded aprox 20 shows or so with it. i modified the unit to add ability to fine tune levels between the 5db incremental switches. pics here -> http://www.routeflap.net/dmic20. ill include a 6v/7aH Oade battery & charger also. From: " cooper" <cooper@lightlink.com> Subject: TOO/up front taping Date: Tue, 12 Nov 2002 01:05:12 -0600 hey now I think people need to realize that we are not the "only people" in or in close proximity to the sweet spot at any given show (not just TOO,PLQ,etc) as evidenced by recent posts regarding D.Macnally's request at alpine and Ruby's encounter at the fox theatre. we all need to remember the people in the row in front of, or behind you may be guests, or employees of the band. In our zeal to make the reference tape, some people may come off as being a little aggressive to their seat-mates. not good to do to strangers! the thing to remember is you are violating the band's/venue's guidelines. after all, stealth taping as by its definition should be covert. a friend and I taped a dylan show in the comp ticket row with laminates right next to us. I hadn't been nervous taping in a *long time* before that. we had traded our seats back to where we wanted to tape to a couple who had probably won the tix on the radio or a contest. I would have not caught on unless I had not checked the tix carefully and noticed they were comps. the lams. showed up in the 3rd song and stayed most of the show, since I already set the levels - all we could do was watch the show! I did not check the gear until the encore. things could have been much, much worse. my point is be careful where you tape, and be polite. thom BWT: the show mentioned above, bob dylan 5/10/96 warner theatre erie, PA recd' w/ schoeps mk-4>vms021b>apogee ad1k>d-10 13th row center to the first 3 emails to my inbox

This Friday 11/15/02 and Saturday 11/16/02 at the Mystic Theater in Petaluma, CA Some of you younger folks may not realize who Ronnie Montrose is... Ronnie was the lead guitarist for the Edgar Winter Group and plays on the songs Free Ride and Frankenstein - you know - the song Phish covers from time to time... He also played all the guitars on Van Morrison's Tupelo Honey. Ronnie has also performed w/ Gary Wright, Boz Skaggs, and Paul Kantner's Planet Earth Rock-N-Roll Orchestra......... The stuff Dave referenced in his post was from Ronnie's first solo band that was the breakout performance buy Sammy Hagar. Montrose is a pioneer in the music world and one of the best guitarists you'll ever see! These shows are not to be missed! From: Todd Romero <todd@routeflap.net> Subject: Re: TOO/up front taping Date: Tue, 12 Nov 2002 01:30:30 -0500 (EST) well said and very true! the reserved seats in the 'sweet spot' are indeed usually filled with family, guests and employees like you said. (is there an echo in here ? :)) especially at Phish/Trey. for example, besides the laminates direclty behind and in front, i taped the last phish i did, next to treys uncle and cousins. and a trey show last year right behind his father and other family. imagine my suprise when he called attention to the fact that his father was "right up there" and everyone around him started pointing and staring. luckily im not one to use an obnoxious mic-stand in a reserved seating show up front. :) if you tape up front, at least have a friggin ticket for the seat. if you wanna be arrogant enuf to setup without a ticket and take a chance and someone comes, you lose. u may get extra lucky and the people might be very easy going and allow you to hang till set break, but dont beg and dont be an asshole. its *you* who is giving tapers a bad rap. happy taping! :) On Tue, 12 Nov 2002, cooper wrote: > hey now > I think people need to realize that we are not the "only people" in or > in close proximity to the sweet spot at any given show (not just > TOO,PLQ,etc) as evidenced by recent posts regarding D.Macnally's request > at alpine and Ruby's encounter at the fox theatre. we all need to remember > the people in the row in front of, or behind you may be guests, or employees > of the band.
