I would second the suggestion for people in the market for a USB device,
or wh have limited wants in a digital sound card, check out the U24. I
had a U2A, the U24's predecessor, and it was a well built, easy to use,
easy to set up with W98 device. Wit a 20 bit A/D converter built in, it
was very handy. I used the U2A for a while and sold it, and now wish I
hadn't. I am currently using an ART DI/O A/D converter and a Delta Dio
2496 sound card, but wish I had kept the U2A, and now am considering
getting a U24 because of the simplicity of the device. One other thing,
when you lok for other USB digital sound devices on eBay, anything is
easier to find than a U24, or U2A.

ADRIAN BELEW TO COLLABORATE WITH LES CLAYPOOL / FROG BRIGADE
Adrian Belew will be dropping in on Les Claypool and the Frog Brigade at the
Newport
Music Hall in Columbus, OH next Tuesday November 19th. The Frog Brigade has
been
playing one of Adrian's King Crimson songs on this tour. "Thela Hun Ginjeet"
first
appeared on KC's Discipline album. The next night (Wed 10/20) he will sit
in with Drums
& Tuba at 12th & Porter in Nashville, TN. Adrian is working on his next solo
studio album
at Studiobelew in Nashville and is readying for the re-release of his first
3 solo albums on
CD. Lone Rhino, Twang Bar King and Desire Caught By The Tail hit store
shelves in
Japan on 12/25.

ADRIAN BELEW OF KING CRIMSON TAKES THE STAGE WITH DRUMS & TUBA!
Drums & Tuba's performance at 12th and Porter in Nashville, Tennessee, on
Wednesday,
November 20, 2002, will feature a very special guest appearance by legendary
King
Crimson guitarist/vocalist Adrian Belew.
Belew became a fan of D&T after hearing its latest record Mostly Ape, and
expressed a
desire to sit in on a couple songs with the adventurous instrumental trio.
Adrian's expansive
and obtuse rock explorations with King Crimson have obviously influenced
D&T's equally
strange sonic directions, so this collaboration promises to be electrifying.

regarding the ESI Waveterminal U24 USB recording/interface/etc device, that
was discussed in digest 546
are you (anyone) SURE that it is 100% "kosher"? by that i mean, does it
really do a "bit for bit" transfer?
i had heard in the past that the all of the EGOSYS USB devices, including
the U2A and U24, both resample input, even if no resampling is selected,
dither down, drop bits, etc (sorry but i don't remember all the details)
this is not to suggest that these are not "good" devices, or that your ears
will ever hear the difference if you use them to transfer your DATs to your
PC, but i remember there were issues with transferring via USB that required
"shortcuts" in the data stream of some kind (sorry, i'm probably not
explaining it right), and that if you want a full bit for bit copy you need
to avoid USB altogether (maybe there are other USB devices that cost more
that offer bit for bit USB transfers?)

I really need to sell this and have lowered the price, so here it is again.
I only want to sell the
whole rig to one person. All items are practically brand new, used to tape
maybe only a dozen shows. All equiptment less than 2 years old. Heres what
ya get...
Sony D-8 portable dat
7 Pin digi cable
Deneke(zefero) Inbox a/d converter
Deneke PS-2
Mogami cables
(2)AKG C-1000 mics w/ adaptors & screens
Sure SA15 12' stand w/ case
T-Bar
Core sound binural mics w/ bass filter & battery box
And a really cool hard shell case to hold it all(except stand)
Over $2000.00 In stuff. First $950.00 gets it all!!!!!!! Thats less than
the dat and the inbox was alone!
good luck,
Vince
