If you need a replacement remote (for practically anything), I stumbled upon
http://www.replacementremotes.com/ and they are great! They fix broken
remotes too! Keep that site in your "note to self..." files!

"this is not to suggest that these are not "good" devices, or that your
ears
will ever hear the difference if you use them to transfer your DATs to
your
PC, but i remember there were issues with transferring via USB that
required
"shortcuts" in the data stream of some kind (sorry, i'm probably not
explaining it right), and that if you want a full bit for bit copy you
need
to avoid USB altogether (maybe there are other USB devices that cost
more
that offer bit for bit USB transfers?)"
I don't remember seeing anything about the U24 or U2A not doing bit for
bit copying, although I won't dispute the above statement that implies
for all USB devices doing bit for bit copies may be impossible. I do
know I have seen comments about the Roland and Edirol devices not being
bit for bit accurate, but don't recall seeing the same about the Ego Sys
or ESI.

The one person who was highly enthusiastic about helping
organize the Lemonwheel tree, strangely disappeared after two
messages, so, I am still looking for a volunteer. I would really love
to get this set out... I know many of you will enjoy it.
I'll be glad to provide help and advise to the admin, but the main
requirements are, you should use an email system which allows
easy filtering of mail into a folder, perhaps make and host a simple
website with some sample files for download (which I've already
prepared), and of course, a little time and organization to get the
job done.
Thank you!

I bought a used R-500 and may have gotten burnt. The tape loading door
was not fitting properly, and upon inspection it looks like the metal
frame that holds it is not square within the opening. (Low on right
side.)
A DAT tape goes in, but does not load and "no tape" is displayed in the
readout. Hour meter indicates 47 hours.
I'm trying to get the seller to refund my money, but if that does not
happen, suggestions on getting this thing fixed would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

I would like to solicit comments from you and anyone about the mic preamps
in the Mini-me. I had semi-decided on the V3 but then got to thinking
about the soft limit and compressor on the Mini-me and just how handy that
would be in certain deep-stealth situations and applause-louder-than-music
situations. Another factor was the newer rev of the Mini-me that is back
to accepting 6V power. So now I've started leaning more in that
direction. I figured the V3 preamps would be superior, but just how "bad"
is the Mini-me in this regard?

This deck is essentially brand new, and the bid is low right now. Go
have a look if you're in the market.

Greetings DatHeads,
Has anyone seen or heard of a optical cable that has dual output or
input. I.e. ( I am trying to burn a cd and a dat or minidisc @ the same
time.) Is it possible for the optical signal to provide the same quality as
if I used one cable? Let me know off board if such a cable exist. best

Smokey and Miho opened for MMW on halloween... I was there, patched out
of someone and somehow my tape was fouled up (tape thinks its 48, is
actually 44.1 - results in T-cut message on playback).
I'd love to get my hands on this show... much to trade..

Hiya,
Anyone using an M1 with a 7-pin coax in/out cable to feed a Digi 001?
Sony is not making the 7-pin optical cables anymore so I must buy
third party 7-pin coax.

>1) are there any home receivers with digital outs?
No, at least not last spring when I tried it out. I think Sony is the
only one who makes a home receiver, all the others are for cars.
>2) is there a way to see their programming schedule
>(with details of who's going to be on what show, etc.)
They have a schedule on their webpage, but as far as I could
tell, there was no comprehensive schedule showing what is happening
each day on each channel, only highlights.
>3) what sort of concerts have been aired.
They broadcast a whole bunch of MerleFest (bluegrass festival) last
April. I got about 40 hours recorded. Then I also caught a Sting concert
in May. Then I took the damn thing back, basically because it wasn't worth
the $450 it cost me at the time. The sound is really pretty poor, somewhere
along the lines of a medium bitrate webcast I think. You don't get
interference or noise like with FM, but it sure sounds worse than a clean
FM signal.

I've got a set of oade stealth mics that have only been used once and
a Sound Professionals battery box for sale. The Oade mics are in
perfect condition and the battery box only has a few cosmetic scuffs
on it. The battery box the one with 7 roll-off levels, 2 internal
sliders for level adjustments, and miniplug input and output.
Together these make a very nice stealth rig for not a lot of cash.
Make an offer.
