I've been eyeing these stealth mics by Microphone Madness that are Highline
"Sennheiser Driven" Cardioids. They go for $299. Has anyone on this list
used them? Any remarks?
You can check them out at:

Subject: Walter Trout??
Date: Sun, 24 Nov 2002 21:26:25 -0800
Having lived in Long Beach and Huntington Beach for most of the last 16
years, and currently living 12 blocks from The Blue Cafe, Walter Trout
is the last person who's developed a international Blues reputation from
this Area I would see. I had VIP tickets, and got into The Blue Cafe
free for years, until I lost my wallet, and not once in those years did
I go see Walter. In your face? Yes, obnoxiously so. Loud? Yes,
beyond any purpose. Please, if you want to brag up some of our local
bands who play the same Blues scene, give Coco Montoya, Kid Ramos,
Janiva Magness, Lynwood Slim, Kirk Fletcher, or our returned Southern
California boy Kim Wilson the praises of greatness, plus dozens more. I
had someone brag to me about Walter over a decade ago, and I went to see
him at Perqs. About 10 or 15 minutes of it was all I could take. I was
at a Blues Festival at Doheny he played. Seems like there was a lot of
empty areas during his set. Including mine. I know the manager and the
owner of The Blue Cafe, so even though I lost my VIP passes, I usually
am welcomed for free. There are so many national and internatinal
touring Blues bands at many of the clubs Dave mentioned, including
Debbie Davies, Guitar Shorty, Tab Benoit, I even saw Taj Mahal sit in
for about an hour and a half set at The Blue Cafe with Hook Hererra.
Sorry, there's just to much good blues around here to get excited about
Walter Trout. You could probably go to the Cafe Boogaloo in Hermosa
Beach, or The Blue Cafe for Happy Hour at either place, and find a
better band. BB King must cringe and weep when he hears Walter Trout
refered to as a Blues Performer.
yea Walter is the shit........I'll try not to step in it.

Well, I've taped tons with it, the deck works, but it
needs some TLC from someone. Got the typical
loading/powering down problems. Also, the tension belt
holding the head to the tape won't set right sometimes
(resulting in the levels showing that you're
recording, even when you're not) It's cost me a couple
of recirdings. This can be easily avoided by packing
tapes and recording a little bit, rewinding to make
sure it "actually" recorded then letting it roll.
(some lessons are learned the hard way) For less than
100 bones, you could get it serviced and then it would
be fine. I just don't have the time or the cash at the
moment. Also the deck doesn't have a battery sled. I
ran it with an external battery pack the whole time I
used it.
Make reasonable offer if interested.
Peace
~E

I just needed to update my post from the other day. I would give preference
to people who would accept DAT's from me in trade, because I don't have the
time to put the shows on CD right now. (I have no problem with receiving CD's
in trade.) Also, the RI show broke as I was taking it out of my D8, so it's
no longer available. Any splicing advice is welcome.
Thanks for the space,
Andrea

Date: Mon, 25 Nov 2002 16:49:52 -0600
My original buyer for these decided he wanted my dpa's instead so these mics
are back up for sale. It is a new set of Oade stealth mics, used only once
and in perfect shape.
The battery box is a premium slimline box with 7 different levels of bass
roll-off and internal sliders for level adjustments. This battery box is
great for these mics especially if you are using a sony md or dat deck. You
can run mic in or line in and will be able attenuate the signal with the
sliders to avoid preamp overload if you need to go mic in. The battery box
is in perfect working order and only has a few surface scuffs on it.
First $175 obo gets it shipped to you door.
peace
