They're playing these HUGE European arena shows and i've only been able to find One recording from this tour. Surely there must be more out there. Any source will do. I have a few hundred foo shows including many 2002 recordings, will trade for any shows I don't have and take a few b+p if there is any intrest. Can trade on cd only but can accept dat. Even if you know of people that have or are taping them passing me their info would be great :) thanks http://www.angelfire.com/dc/foolist/ _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses. From: Keith Bode <t.tunakebo@verizon.net> Subject: Bit for Bit perfect, IMO re:U24 Date: Mon, 02 Dec 2002 00:10:31 -0800 While it would be nice to be able to do Bit for bit perfect recordings, IMO, to much emphasis is put on that capabilitty. IMO, what is more important is audible differences. If, in making a recording, or doing a transfer, the results not being bit for bit perfect is not a problem I feel is worth getting upset about. If this lack of bit for bit perfection is so far off that it introduces audible flaws, then it is a serious problem. IMO, if the original recording or transfer has no audible flaws, or no major anomalies that are visible on a recording or editing program, I feel it is not a problem, that a couple of dozen bits get misplaced on the recording. However, I do feel it is imperative to maintain the bit for bit accuracy as the original is duplicated. If this is not done the errors on top of errors will eventually lead to audible flaws. I personally try to use SHN as much as possible, although I feel EAC in Secure Mode, using the Copy and Test function is as reliable as using SHN. DAT is a great medium for making close to identical copies, but if the Deck is keeping a count of errors, then it seems there would have to be some misplaced bits. So, IMO, the bottom line test that we really are most concerned with is "Does the duplicate or transfer sound identical to the original?". Personally, I have run MD5 checks on the SHN files to burn CD's that failed, and have run EAC and gotten error reports, neither of which were audible. I don't know of a similar test for DAT's, other than a transfer to a wav, and creating md5's of the wav. Keith
From: Kurt Kemp <kkemp@mtsac.edu> Subject: Got Beck? Date: Mon, 02 Dec 2002 01:26:55 -0800 Fellow datsters, I got a pretty good tape of Beck at the Universal Amph. on 11-25-02. The set list was: 1) Guess I'm Doin' Fine, 2) Side of the Road, 3) Do You Realize??, 4) Nobody's Fault But My Own, 5) One Foot In The Grave, 6)The Golden Age, 7) Lord Only Knows, 8) Get Real Paid, 9) Loser, 10) Cold Brains, 11) Lonesome Tears, 12) It's All In Your Mind, 13) Tropicalia, 14) New Pollution, 15) Lost Cause, 16) End of the Day, 17) Paper Tiger, 18) Sissyneck, 19) Nicotine Gravy, 20) Devil's Haircut, 21) Where It's At. There was no encore. 1:46:00 If you're interested in a trade, just send me your list. I've got DAT>DAT capabilities, but no CDR. Am willing to take CDs in trade, though. --Kurt
From: simona loberant <loberant@yahoo.com> Subject: I need help getting mini disc to CD Date: Mon, 2 Dec 2002 03:31:31 -0800 (PST) I have many, many minidisc recordings of concerts (mostly folk, singer/songwriter) and the quality of the originals is quite good in my humble opinoin. Unfortunately when I attempt to transfer the sound to CD but going through the line in on my sound card and recording the sound to a wave or mp3 file the quality reduces so much that its often actually painful to listen to the result. I hope that this explanation isn't too hard to follow! Basically I'm hoping that there is some way I can transfer the music to CDs so I can give them out to all of the people who want copies. I'm not sure if there is software out there that would help me or if I would be better off borrowing a DVD recorder from a friend and transferring the sound to a dvd-r (or cd-r) through this method. Any tips or information at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Simona ===== Simona L. Reply-To: "Rich Vining" <rvining@emory.edu> Date: Mon, 2 Dec 2002 10:36:44 -0500 Did anybody here happen to get a tape out of the 11/4/02 Flaming Lips show at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta? I attempted to stealth, but had a load problem with my M1 and the tape didn't turn out. Second time that's happened to me with that deck. I've never had a problem with my D7 though, and it's several years older. Grr... Anyway, if anybody got a tape out of there I'd love to set something up. It was their only solo show (sans Beck) on the current tour. - Rich ======================================================================== Richard Vining rvining@emory.edu
From: Ken Max <kmax63@yahoo.com> Subject: D7 went swimming Date: Mon, 2 Dec 2002 08:10:31 -0800 (PST) My D7 got dunked. I took it apart as much as I could and blotted it and hit it with a cool hair dryer. Any other suggestions of things to do to dry it? I'm letting it sit for a couple days before powering it up. BTW, I was on my way to taping Steve Earle at the Riv in Chicago on Saturday night when it got wet, so if any kind soul has a copy to share please contact me. Thanks. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now. http://mailplus.yahoo.com
