Reply-to: gdavisloop@earthlink.net Date: Sat, 14 Dec 2002 19:41:01 -0800 There are WHO mailing lists and/or newsgroups that would probably discuss this more than DAT-Heads. Perhaps one of us could lurk over there and report back! --G ------------------------------ From: "R Sheepherder" Subject: Dividing Track for CDR Burning Date: Sat, 14 Dec 2002 21:14:38 -0800 When using Sound Forge to divide a continuous sound (such as a concert) into individual tracks, and then burning to CD-R using EZ CD Creator, I often get clicks or pops on the track divisions. (This is not a problem if I create the track marks on a DAT or MD, then burn to a standalone CD recorder, but I find it easier to divide the tracks on a computer when I am looking at the waveform.) I have heard there are programs that will divide on sector points and avoid this problem. Any suggestions as to a (hopefully inexpensive) program that will create track divisions without clicks or pops? It will also let you leave the WAV file intact and create a CUE sheet to burn a CD in a better burning program, such as EAC (free) or CDRWIN ($39 or so). Even though Sony stopped production of this model about 6 years earlier, they still had flat rate repair available. Their local repair facility was about 30 to 45 minutes away, in Irvine, CA. Their flat rate was in the $175 ballpark. I then asked 2 questions that led me away from Sony's in house repair facility. First, I asked if they would repair the deck there, at that location. They said "No, all our Western Region high end audio products are repaired in Fresno." Then I asked if there were people in the Fresno facility who specialized in DAT repair. Again, "No" everyone works on everything. I had been advised to call Oade Brothers to arrange for repairs. I was told they had just recently pretty much shut down their repair department, as the brother who did most of the repairs was having Back Surgery, and they suggested I make arrangements with Paul at Pro Digital. Then I called Masterpiece AV who I had bought quite a bit of media from. They said they didn't do repairs, but to get in touch with Paul at Pro Digital. So, I got in touch with Paul at Pro Digital, sent the deck out by Fed Ex Ground, and in about 2 weeks, I got my deck back and it's been working fine ever since. Sony said it would be 3 weeks minimum before I saw my deck again. Also, Sony told me the Flat rate would not include parts. Got some cheesy audience tapes from the Bridge but they don't compare. Anybody have a line on some genuine DSB's of this guy.
