From: "Tidmarsh Major" <tidmarsh@bellsouth.net> Subject: Re: DAT > CD - play deck question Date: Fri, 20 Dec 2002 12:51:21 -0600 A full-size deck might not necessarily have better error correction. My D3 sometimes reads a tape my full-size deck won't. The main reason would be to avoid wear on the smaller portable heads, which wear faster than full-size heads. From: Philip Smoker <psmoker43@yahoo.com> Subject: Zwan on MuchMusic / Four Tet Date: Fri, 20 Dec 2002 11:10:08 -0800 (PST) Did anyone record Zwan on MuchMusic last night or this morning? I thought it would also be showing on MuchMusicUSA, but I was entirely wrong about that. It was only a half-hour set, and I'm looking for trades on any format (dat, cd-r, vhs, dvd-r, wax cylinder). I'm also in search of any Four Tet recordings. I was in touch with a lister about some broadband trading, but I'm relegated to dial-up at home and firewall prevention at work. I will even send SASE overseas for any recordings of Kieran Hebden's side project. BWT: One of my recordings from Terrastock 5 to the first person who replies after I receive the digest: http://www.noize.org/trade.txt (Masters are at the bottom of the page.) Hope to hear from someone soon, *phiL* __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now. http://mailplus.yahoo.com

From: "Gary Davis" <gdavisloop@earthlink.net> Subject: SNL date - second thought Reply-to: gdavisloop@earthlink.net Date: Fri, 20 Dec 2002 17:58:10 -0800 I'm having second thoughts about my decision on which show you were describing. On the date I gave, Zappa opened (I believe) with Dancing Fool, and he was also the host, and did a skit called "Night on Freak Mountain". The *other* show, with Candice Bergen as host, included "Slime" (the only song that Comedy Central shows), and occurred 12/11/76. --Gary
