I have bought tickets on eBay, and I have sold tickets on eBay. I have
bought for more than ticketmaster price, and less than ticketmaster
price. I have sold for more than ticketmaster price, and less than
ticketmaster price. IMO, face value is irrelevant, as you cannot, in
the vast majority of situatins buy tickets at face value. GDSTSTOO
doesn't even sell tickets for face value. If a person doesn't want to
pay the market value of tickets, don't. If that means you get
nosebleeds in the back of a 20,000 seat venue, because the market value
of 10th row floor seats is 5 or 10 times face value, who is gettig hurt
by 1. Peple willing to pay that price, and 2. People unwilling to pay
that price and sitting in nose bleeds in the back? Having sat through a
couple f semesters f economics, one thing I learned is this. Even what
the american dollars value is, is set by market value. It is not a
fixed value. Everything sold on eBay, is sold based on the market value
of the item, wether it is a hammer or a camera. Is taking the moral
highroad admirable? I guess people will find out when they are sitting
home NYE, missing thee concert they want to be at. IMO, there is no
moral highroad when it comes to concert tickets. Bill Graham shut down
both Fillmore's in 1971. His stated reason was that if he couldn't put
on a good bill of entertainment for $6.50, he felt the industry was not
where he wanted to be. I heard the words cme out of his mouth on WNEW,
NY. He changed his mind, and sold tickets for as much as anyone else.

Everyone has different experiences with their various
hardware. Unless you're sending blanks to someone and
they request specific a media type, it's really quite
simple - try different brands and then use what works
best for you.

This is wise and certainly was the case with DAT also. The one caveat is=20
that you need to consider time, especially in the case of masters and such=20
(keeping SHN backups is a very good idea). Just because something burns=20
fine, doesn't mean it will last so well. With DAT this was easier to tell=20
and in some cases there is data from various magazine tests, but mostly you =
have to decide subjectively on your own how well media lasts for you.

Hello,
Is it a bad idea to photocopy a DAT? (Or even scan
the DAT's label My thought was that a photocopier has
a motor which generates a magnetic field that could
harm the DAT contents.
Can anyone please confirm or refute my logic?
Thanks!

The earth generates a magnetic field... DATs require a significant incident
magnetic flux to flip bits. I wouldn't recommend putting them through a
MRI unit, but most magnetic fields should be fine. The light involved in
such a process is probably more damaging, were it incident on the tape...
its more through chemistry and mechanical friction, than electromagnetics,
that DATs degrade.

You'll need to stealth the show. I "think" the band may be ok with it, but it has more to do with their label than anything
else. I was talking with some folks that run the official site at the show I taped last month, and they passed that info along to
me.

just thought i'd throw this in after all the recent
Fuji posts...in the past, fuji were very reliable for
me, but they seem to have been downhill as of late...i
don't even use em anymore...perhaps quality control
standards were loosened? i would get OPC fail messages
or coaster burns w/ roughly 4 out of 10 discs in the
last couple spindles i bought of their media. both
spindles were the high-speed Fuji purchased at
Rite-Aid. i was using them w/ a marantz standalone,
which is very picky about media...my computer burner
isn't so strict. the color-splash Fuji media was
somewhat problematic for me (i bought a spindle or 2
of those previously), but the newer 48x stuff was
worse. since then i've bought the unbranded TY media
thru mailorder and had excellent results. my fear is
that fuji has loosened quality control and let their
media go to shit in the name of profits. (hurray for
corporations.) i would suggest buying the straight TY
media, and avoid fuji.

Hi all,
Allright, the time has come and I'm FINALLY upgrading my mics.
Here are what I've narrowed it down to:
AKG c451b
AKG c480b
Earthworks SR77
Neumann km184
Opinions? I'd appreciate any help or advice anyone has on these
mics. Also, anyone ever used or seen a Rolls phantom power supply?
Thanks!

My 2-cents. I try to burn copies for my friends on 2 or 3 different
brands; typically, Fuji (for me), and Sony & Imation for others. The
Imation discs are made in Taiwan so they seem cheaper, but who
knows? Mayby TY, who makes both the Fuji and Sonys, will have
a bad week, and the Imations will outlast the Sonys after all...
Of course, adding Mitsui to the mix couldn't hurt at all...

For a while there were a few people who were reporting their successes and failures using the Nomad Jukebox 3. The last I heard there were some upcoming firmware releases that might be able to make this device a more viable solution for live recording.
Does anyone have more or updated information on this?
