It seems like Core Sound is working on some sort of HD recorder, check out
http://www.core-sound.com/HighResRecorderNews.html . I was thinking about
buying a Nomad Jukebox 3, but will definately wait for this thing to be
available. Anyone have any inside info?

"In the end, you make too much money for this kind of reasoning to have
any effect whatsoever."
Thank you for spending as much time tinking about me as you did. I have
made money on 2 ticket sales on eBay. I have lost money on a lot more
sets of tickets that I sold on eBay. I had front row seats to see Phil
Lesh at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. I bught them as some friends
had expressed interest in going, then bcked out. I posted that I had
extr front row seats available, that I would like to get what I paid
Ticketmaster for the seats. 1 Person on a list took one of the 3
tickets I had available, I lost money selling the remaining tickets on
eBay, ad IMO the show sucked. It was pleasant while I was there, but
comparing it to many other concets I've been to, it was far from
memorable. If you want to make accusatins of me being a scalper, find
out the truth, before you make ignorant, assumption based acusations.
I'm sorry, but the promoters make money, Ticketmaster makes money with a
legalized ripoff, and that is part of the OK stuff, but if smeone else
makes a few bucks they are scum? I AM NOT THE PERSON WHO IS MAKING THE
MONEY, but I don't see anyting wrong with smeone making more thn face
value on ticktet's. For that to happen, there has to be a buyer who
wants the tickets. So, the seller is scum, and the buyer s a victim?
The buyer s 50% of the transaction. If there is no buyer, there is no
sale.

If Phish were playing accros the street frm me, I would not buy tickets
to sell or go. in fact, if they gave them away, and came to th door to
do it, i'd say "no thanks".

Hey folks,
It's about time for me to send my DA-P1 in for some cleaning, and I was just
wondering about the avg. service costs for these units. Also, does anyone
have the contact info for Pro Digital and Paul Plotnik (sp?)
Thanks,

Heres my experiences - I keep seeing (look for the screw-top nut spindles at
stores) but you cant go by that - I have a spindle of screw top TDK's that
(per the CDIdentifier program) Ritek Company dye: short strategy - I have
used Memorex's in the past and have had all kinds of problems reading to and
from - get some in trades and usually within a year or two they are full of
errors or not readable at all - I use mainly Imations - per Imation they
claim they are manufactured to (Imations) specs and have a 125 year life - I
have had a few Imations that would not work after burning or wouldn't burn -
I have probably burned 4-5 thousand discs in the past 4 or 5 years - I do
use the Fuji's as well when they are on sale - per CDIdentifier they are
made by Ty Yuden and are dye: long strategy - I have had a few that wouldn't
burn or work after a burn - I like Imations and will continue to use them.

Would love to hear the new songs if anyone got this. Doesn't have to be stellar quality, just listenable. Please contact me if you taped this or any other JF shows. I have JF masters to trade.
Thanks,

Interesting - so Mitsui's are either the best or the worst,
Sony's are either made by TY or they're not (ditto for Memorex),
and the 7c we pay after rebate is actually less than the royalty on
the CDR technology!
For the record, I popped in a new "Sony" disc with a clear center
into CDRIDENT and it says, "Manufactured by Sony Corporation".
So this could mean "not" TY. It could mean just about anything ;-)
Dye type = 5.
Then I popped in a disc from my last batch of Best Buy
blue-wrapped Fujis, and it said "Taiyo Yuden", dye type = 1.
This is not the very latest batch of Fuji's, which I ordered on
Thanksgiving and haven't gotten yet.
But given what little we know about CD longevity, I'll second my
notion that trading each master on many different brands, and
remembering who you trade with (email archive), is probably your
best bet to assure one readable copy somewhere in the world.
Even with "good" brands - some claim 75-year longevity, some
claim nothing, but what do we really know? Did the 75 years come
from marketing or engineering? Accelerated aging tests aren't the
same as real world conditions. And even our own experience with
CDRs going back to 1996 doesn't mean much - given that the
formulation changes constantly, mostly to make the product
cheaper ($10 > 5-cents in five years), but hopefully, at least
occasionally, to make the product better.

Also have a great DAT of the recent 'Concert for George' at Royal Albert

Hello,
Three fourths of the seminal indie-rock band Sunny Day Real Estate have
reformed as The Fire Theft. They're playing their first two shows in
January on the west coast. I'm in the middle of the country so I won't be
able to catch them. If anyone is able to tape either of these two shows, I
would be grateful. I'll cover the cost of ticket, tape, and I'll throw in
a drink or something. I can do the transferring from DAT or MD as well.
Here are the dates:
January 21 Graceland Seattle
January 23 Troubadour LA
Email me at gace0003@tc.umn.edu if you can help.
Thanks,
Chris
