I have a fair amount of Stone to trade for. Or a number of other artiest. happy new year Matt ------------------------------ From: Keith Bode Subject: Ebay tix or scalping Date: Tue, 31 Dec 2002 10:07:10 -0800 Ray, et al: Get a grip. The vast majority of the sclping done, is done by the concert promoters, the venues, and the bands themselves have a say. Most of the great seats that go for the big bucks, like 5 to 10 times the retail price, are the blocks of front and center tickets given to ticket brokers. I saw 6 Clapton tickets on eBay that wee on the floor, about half way back, go for $50 bucks each over retail. The front and center tickets from ticket brkers wer going fr $500 or more more than retail cost. I never checked the price of Phish or DMB tickets, or how many of their tickets wind up at ticket brokers, but that is were the vast majority of tickets are scalped for big bucks, not ebay, on the other hand, I don't check the ebay concert tickets out in their entirety, because I have other things to do, like respond to emotionally charged, not statisticly based, posts on e-mail lists. I know that 90% of the tickets I have bought or sold on eBay, have been for under ticketmaster prices, so if you need tickets, and want them cheap, check eBay. I've seen people start asking high prices for tickets, then as the concert approaches, and the tickets don't sell, the prices drop to under ticketmaster prices. I haven't looked at any tickets for sale on eBay since June, but maye some of you have the time to check, and get your self worked up. Personally, I have far bigger concerns than $50 one way or the other. Also, eBay is a fraction of the problem. Ticket Brokers, concert promoters that feed them prime tickets, and bands that don't specify in their contracts about this issue of prime tickets going to brokers are the real problem. I never saw concert tickets on eBay advetised in the New York or Los Angeles Times. Keith Keith ------------------------------ From: Scott Goodwin Subject: Seeking 'John & Mary and their band LIVE ' Date: Sun, 29 Dec 2002 09:31:04 -0500 If anyone happens to have this in any format, I'd very much like to trade or B & P for it. It was only released on cassette and only sold at John & Mary shows for about six months, circa 1994. It's a shot in the dark, but I figure "what the hey...?" Please drop a line if you can help out. WOB Tax: Joe Strummer R.I.P. I'll take a couple of randomly-selected folks for freebies of Clash 6/13/81 - I'll email you if you get in. SWG ------------------------------ From: "DAVID HEBER" Subject: FT: Phish Tickets Date: Tue, 31 Dec 2002 18:58:58 +0000 Greetings Dat & Phish heads I have two extra club seats for the phish show in Denver on Feb 18, 03 I am looking to trade for two tickets to either night in vegas or even a single for each night. I can not afford to pay what some of these people want and will end up not going if I can not grab some tickets at face or even near face. Seems like it might be a decent way to get my DATs onto my PC for CD burning without any resampling. Open to any comments. Also curious about digital I/O cards and audio capable DAT drives. I just need a way to get my DATs onto my PC as purely as possible. Thanks in advance. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. I sent some emails recently to a person scalping, oopps, sorry "Selling" tickets on Ebay giving him my own .02$ and he just blasted me with all sorts of insults (quite childish and lame I might add). Wrong thing to do to this brother...he sure go an earful to say the least. All in all, he pulled his add!! I FEEL ITS DEAD ASS WRONG when people or organizations out there are hogging up many of the tickets just to turn a profit!! That is not what was intended by the band performing or the promoters. Just because certain individuals can benefit from "legal loop holes" doesn't mean it morally right. Come on people get your shit together....... I would rather stay home on NYE than contribute to the "machine". In any account, have a safe and wonderful NYE!! Peace, LeftoverSammy From: "Potter, Ray" Subject: Ebay tix or scalping Date: Mon, 30 Dec 2002 11:14:27 -0500 I can't beleive the justification being used to justify ticket scalping = - market value - THATS BS!!!!! I just got one. (Jukebox 3) Until a recent firmware version, it didn't do digital in correctly (dropped samples). Now it does. But I'll test it anyway, until I'm confident (play tape at it, copy file to computer, lather rinse repeat, then compare all the files on the computer). > Its claims to have a line-in for direct stereo audio > recording in WAV format from external devices (my DAT) > and a USB for output to my PC. Seems like it might be > a decent way to get my DATs onto my PC for CD burning > without any resampling. Line in is D/A/D conversion, worse than resampling. Better (since it can't have great A/D) would be to use the optical digital in. I don't know if it takes 48 kHz, though. (I hope it does; I don't care if it plays slow, since I'll only be doing this to copy to the computer anyway.) > Also curious about digital I/O cards and audio capable > DAT drives. I have an external scsi audio-capable dat that (if the Nomad works) I won't need any more. Seth ------------------------------ From: "Don Landis" Subject: re: Truckin' ? Date: Tue, 31 Dec 2002 17:00:30 -0600 I am not sure but to these feeble ears, it sounds like the line has been slightly altered, to "meds, vitamin V & Rogaine...". Just a guess, we're all gettin' up there, aren't we? Nothing is quite what it seems anymore. Don From: "Steve Novy" Subject: Truckin' ? (Livin' on reds, vitamin c & cocaine)-Check your tapes with a recent Truckin' on it. ------------------------------ From: stuart Subject: I.S.O. I heard that the show was incredible. Please let me know if you can help. I then eject the tape *without* rewinding and pop it into my Sony portable, and hit the "time-mode" button to display A-Time. If everything's working correctly, the display will show the "1- minute" A-Time. Hit "rewind" and the A-Time should go down. If somehow the tape mis-loaded, A-Time will not display. Yes, the tape will unload and reload before you actually start recording (if it's not stealth, you can always look for the A-time again), but, the fact it loaded once correctly is generally a good sign. And I do NOT take the batteries out on the way to the venue. You're potentially asking for trouble by killing the power and getting a cold re-start, rather than let the portable's "intellegent power management" continue to handle the tape. --Gary ------------------------------ From: "Gary Davis" Subject: one more note on Mis-load prevention Reply-to: gdavisloop@earthlink.net Date: Wed, 1 Jan 2003 01:47:27 -0800 It's important that you record the test A-time on your home or studio deck, and then play it back on the portable. This will assure that the tape didn't load "flipped". --G ------------------------------ ** FOR YOUR REFERENCE ** To unsubscribe from this digest, please send email to dat-heads-unsubscribe@datheads.phish.net If your email address has changed, you may (optionally) send the message to dat-heads-unsubscribe-oldaddress=olddomain@datheads.phish.net and the old address will be removed.
