I have a Waveterminal 2496 sound card that has been running off of Win98SE.
Looking to build a new box and was wondering if anyone has updated their
drivers to XP Pro? If so, does everything seem to be functioning correctly?
Thanks! Dave

Hey Dan... great reply!!! My wife and I really cracked up. The last couple
years of the Dead, and now Phil & TOO we have had visions of the "Geriatric
Assisted Deadhead" show. Being over 50 and having gone to Dead shows since
'68... we have noted how going on tour has changed....We envisioned the "on
golden pond" version of being on tour... This was especially relevant at
Alpine this summer as we walked up and down that steep walkway! What a
killer!!
A typical TOO show in 2010...
- Those chairs that help you up into a standing position.
- We would all have maps to get back to our cars. Better yet.. valet
service... or those tour buses you see full of senior citizens on tour.
- Name tags because we couldn't remember names.. or our names.
- Acid AND antacid in our pockets
- A return of the "hand signers" for the deaf... now that we ALL cant hear.
(remember them at summer shows for the hearing impaired section of the
audience?)
- Two intermissions... (bladder capacity changes with age)
- Instead of just Phil having a music stand there'd be "bouncing ball
lyrics" in the light show because none of us get the words right any more..
China cat ... what?? (large type of course)

hi,
i have a room in my basement where i dub, burn, record, and listen to
the dats i record live. the problem is the sound going right up thru the
ceiling into the living room ,and i get a lot of grief from the wife and
kids. i need to insulate the space between the ceiling( sheetrock) and the
wood floor above. the only way to do it is to blow in insulation with one
of those machines, there is no access to roll out fiberglass. can anyone
tell me what kind of material would best do the job. heat insulation would
be a plus, there is a space along the back wall gets a little chilly.
thanks, and happy new year.

Subject: Ticket Scalping On eBay!
Date: Wed, 1 Jan 2003 12:47:11 EST
Hopefully, this can be the last message on this subject! The original post
was about someone selling Phish taper tickets for NYE on eBay with an opening
bid of $400 each. If you happen to look at the small print on eBay, the
seller of the tickets must declare an actual face value from which eBay
allows him to receive slightly more. The problem is that no one on eBay
checks that these unscrupulous sellers are declaring the correct face value
of the tickets. Therefore, anyone can say that the face value of Phish taper
tickets is $500 a piece if they so choose.
Personally, I don't care what anyone tries to sell a regular concert ticket
for. It's the selling of taper tickets for a huge profit that bothers me.
We are supposed to be ethical as tapers. If you happen to have a taper
ticket that you can't use, sell it to another taper for cost. That way the
ticket gets used by someone who's supposed to be using it.
Yours,
Ira

Happy New Year heads!
Thought this might be of interest to anyone looking for a DAT alternative.
Looks very promising, especially when the V3 upgrades to Firewire.

<<get my DATs onto my PC for CD burning without any resampling
Now that would be a huge surprise!
I can't imagine any reason at all why archos or creative
would build a device that can actually read spdif *including the time code*.
So like all other non-pro devices the jukeboxes almost certainly will
'resample' their input.
Note: while I don't *know*, this reasoning takes no more than common sense:
Resampling is free, as analog in must be resampled anyway, but
actually locking to the external time code embedded in the spdif
signal is not so cheap to build. And since almost nobody
appreciates/pays this effort it never happens for consumer gear..
Seth, as I'm considering one myself, do tell us all your detailed
experiences!!
:):):)

If Phish were playing accros the street frm me, I would not buy tickets
to sell or go. in fact, if they gave them away, and came to th door to
do it, i'd say "no thanks".
