Does anyone know of a good Coax > Optical converter for use with the Nomad
Jukebox III. I have a Midiman CO2 but I am getting strange little pops of
static here and there on my dat conversions and was hoping to try out a
different converter instead.
I was also wondering if anyone had used the Midiman CO3 and whether it was a
step up in product or the same with just more options and inputs, etc.
Any help you can give me in perfecting my conversions with the Nomad would be
appreciated since it's a great little toy - I just wish it was a little
better. If they had put a coax input on it it would be perfect to use.

will not do SACD or DVD-Audio...not sure any DVD player will at this
time...

If you're looking for the TDK CD-R pens, you can get them directly from tdk:
http://www.tdk.com/acc/accmm.html
They also sell a 4-pack of colored pens.

I did some reading recently about latency with
regard to using a Windows-based operating system
for audio engineering. Although it was directed
at those doing audio editing on the PC, it would
seem to me that latency problems would also effect
those doing live recording to a laptop's hard
drive, at least as far as latency problems with
regard to hard drive operations & audio are
concerned.
So I guess my question is - for those of you
doing this stuff, is latency a problem for you?
Or a problem that you're aware of?
And the second part is, I don't understand the
desire to record direct to a laptop hard drive.
Why do it? What do you gain, or think you're
gaining as the case may be?

I've been looking for a copy of this show since '98. There was a taper who
recorded this show, but he was in the process of getting out of the
hobby. I've seen at least one purported mp3 on Kazaa, so I know it must be
out there.
If anyone has a copy of this show, please get in touch with me. I'm
interested in all of the sets.

hey now,
i borrowed a mount for schoeps active cables from charles fox. it looked
just like (body-wise) the schoeps stc 110 degree active/caps mount, but was
black in color. it looked unoffically made (released by someone else, or
homemade?).
charles wasn't interested in telling me where it came from...
anyone make, or know where to get, these bars?
charles has a 100 and a 90......
thanks,

Can anyone suggest a good software app. for editing MP3 files? I have a
few MP3 files that have some extraneous noise that I would like to trim
from either the beginning or the end of the sound file. Is there an app.
that can do this easily in the MP3 format without having to first
convert it to .wav?

Sent this guy his end of the trade months ago....email goes unanswered as
does snail mail......hate to think I got ripped off once again....guess that
is why I don't trade much anymore.
ISO DARK STAR ENTERPRISES: this guy sent me an attached photo of his
taperoom which was completely full of padded bubble mailers, to which he
hadn't responded, because he was "busy" seeing springsteen and the stones.
he did this because i'd spent the better part of three months waiting for
some david gilmour from him. i eventually gave up ...
john, maybe scott weber is just "busy."

Date: Tue, 07 Jan 2003 22:44:03 -0500
"recent" is a relative term, in by "recent" i mean last year (2002).
haven't actually traded out most of this stuff.
stuff i taped last year:
explosions in the sky [x3] , frog brigade, the mercury program, mono,
coldplay [x2], queens of the stone age, zwan, death cab for cutie, hank
III, american analog set, the strokes, plus some others.
what i'm especially looking for is:
any explosions in the sky shows that i don't have.
radiohead shows 1995-1997 (especially 11/xx/95).
if interested, in any of that or just in seeing my list, drop me an email.
like someone else who posted on here a few days ago, i too am looking for a
pair of tickets for coldplay in charlotte (01/25/03).

I have an interesting sounding Police recording from the US Festival in
either 83' or 84' ( I have the date somewhere) taped with Nak 300's. The
problem is it has pops throughout & I don't have the ability to remove them.
I've only seen low quality analog copies floating around on peoples lists &
since the pops are the only problem it seems worth fixing up. If anyone is
interested, I'd be happy to send you the discs along with 4 blanks-two for
you & two for me along with return postage if you could run it through a
de-popper and send me a copy. If interested please contact me. Thanks,
Chris

On 6 Jan 2003 at 15:50, The SchoolNerd asks about a simple setup for
producing informal voice CDs.
How about a home minidisc deck and a standalone CD burner?
The minidisc would work much like the cassette deck he's used to, and
probably has enough editing capability for his purposes. A home deck
would
also have a digital output, which he could burn directly to the CD
burner
once he finishes editing and then duplicate the resulting CD.
For that matter, he could keep using his cassette deck, and just copy
the
finished cassette to CD using a standalone CD burner.

Hi. Sorry to bother the list. I am still trying to track down country...
In particular, Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts, Clint Black, George Strait and
Kenny Chesney. But ANY country would be great! Am also looking for Cher,
Cyndi Lauper, Healing Sixes and ZZ Top. I have a large list. Any help will
be appreciated. Thanks!

Subject: Re: DDS2 DAT tapes
Date: Wed, 08 Jan 2003 15:38:51 +0000
Let's clarify a few things...
DDS -- or Digital Data Storage -- is a specification for tapes and drives
attached to computers to store data. Each new generation (they're on the fourth
currently) introduced longer, thinner tapes and denser recording techniques.
DDS-2 is by definition a 120 meter tape. They are not recommended for use in
audio DAT recorders. Of course 90 meter tapes are not recommeded either but
many people use them with varying degrees of side effects. But realize that 120
meter tapes are thinner than even 90 meter tapes, which in turn are thinner than
60 meter tapes.
That said, "Sony DG90P DDS2" is a contradiction in terms...it's either DG120P
DDS-2, or DG90P DDS.
Oh and by the way, I have a DDS-2 tape drive attached to my computer and am
looking for some DDS-2 tapes to use for backups, if anyone bought some by
mistake drop me a line and maybe we can work something out.
Thanks
Mark
