Subject: SOS on ticket scalping, sorry for another off topic post
Date: Mon, 13 Jan 2003 03:38:01 -0800
I don't like being flamed on list, as Todd Romero did by writing and
calling me
> "altho this is the ticket-scalping sympathizer"
Now this topic of ticket scalping has always struck me 1. As being off
topic for this list and, 2. a which came first, the chicken or the egg
issue. If a person is willing to part with a grotesque amount of money
for seats, that the band didn't negotiate in their contract had to be
sold along with the rest of the seats, and the promoter pulled aside and
slid off to ticket brokers, I fail to see why the person recieving the
cash is the problem, but the band, promoter, and buyer are not? It
appears to me, the person parting with a large sum of money, is as much
a part of the problem as the person recieving the money. Personally I'm
not going to call anyone a victim, and another the crook, all are part
of the same problem. If somene can explain why a person goes out the
door, or looks in a major city newspaper, looking for tickets that cost
many times ticketmaster prices, and lays down their plastic or cash to
purchase those tickets, and why they are victims, I'd love to see the
logic in that. The entire system is screwed.
If you think eBay is the problem, you have had different experiences
than I have. I could not get ticketmaster price on eBay, a Buy it Now,
for front row seats to see Phil Lesh last year at the Greek Theater.
Yeah, one time I made $20 a ticket from a guy who asked me to find him
tickets to one of 2 nights of Eric Clapton in Los Angeles. I sold him
extra's I had for what I paid for one night, and he asked me to get what
I didn't have. Today, he's grateful I found the tickets for him, and he
feels I did him a favor to hunt down tickets for him, and sit and bid
for them as the auction closed for $40, because if he had t go to a
ticket broker it would have cost a lot more. I've had other extra
tickets I sold on eBay, and lost money on all of them. I keep saying
"I'm not buying people tickets, unless I have their money first," and do
it anyway. I
So, if you want me to find you something on eBay, and sit there as the
auction is closing, and place a winning bid, it's going to cost you $20,
no matter what it is I'm buying for you. If you'd like any
clarification on the subject of me finding you what you want on ebay,
and making sure my ass is in front of the computer to win the auction
you want, because you can't be there, it's $50 per item.

I put this up on Furthur about a week ago so there should be multiple hosts
and pretty speedy downloads assuming everyone who's gotten it keeps it
shared. The show sounds pretty good and the Nomad w/ an optical in seemed
to work well, although I haven't compared it to another deck in the chain.
Enjoy!

Wondering if anybody has found any successful method of removing what
appears to be oversaturated bass from GD soundboard recordings? Sounds kind
of like a high frequency "rattle" or buzz that is evident in several
recordings. Listening to 6/18/74 and it is full of it. Suggestions in
SoundForge or others?

They are each two feet in length.
I also have two Apogee aes/ebu digital cables, terminated with XLR

Sell for $20 each (shipping included). Will sell the whole lot for $100

Look, I don't see what this has to do with taping. There are forums on
E-bay for discussing things there. I have said this before.
I am glad we have diversity of opinions, but lets use it to discuss taping.
Its nice people are sorry for their diversions, but instead of being so why
don't you just contribute something on topic.

Ok, we have both opinions... lets consider it a discussion and send this
topic back to where it came from.
I also would appreciate that those who have 10 line signatures unrelated to
DAT-heads turn them off when sending 1-line posts... also because of the
digest format, edit out the "included" text at the end.... just leave the
context for response and the response.

matched pair, purchased new in July '02 from US retailer, used for about 5
shows. New $1125 ($1090 + $35 matching), sell $850 incl. FedEx 3-day to
lower 48. Prefer Paypal. Reason for selling - don't use often enough and
need the $$ for other stuff.

Hi All,
I am looking for a new pair of mics, and ran accross the microphone madness
"sennheiser powered" mics, anyone have any experience with these, good bad
or otherwise? Anyone got any reccomendations for mics in the same price
range, about $300? I am also looking for a denke ad20 or zefiro inbox, and a
sony 7 pin cable to go from the inbox to a D7... Anyone got one they want to
get rid of or know of a good place to get one?
Also, I have a USB SPDIF/Optical input (edirol UA-1) the recordings sound
muddy after using this to transfer them to my laptop. Anyone have any
experience with these? Are there any USB devices that work well or am I
going to have to go to a PCMIA card to get a decent transfer?
Thanks,
Des

Hello all,
After months of work I have finally converted my entire DAT collection
to bitperfect DAE free SHN and FLAC files. This was a move that I had
to make for a few reasons. #1 I was running out of space for storage
and #2 I do less and less trading on DAT format (I DO STILL PLAN TO
TRADE ON DAT WHEN NEEDED... HAVE NO FEARS :)
With that said, I have 60 DAT clones which i am looking to sell at
cost (or less). This will specifically help fund my upcoming wedding.
The 60 focus around the following acts: Oasis, U2, Radiohead, Travis (but includes
many others). I am looking to part ways with them all and pass them
into the hands of possibly a new trader looking to start with a fresh
collection, or other with as much love for these groups as I do :)
The 60 have been split into lots of 10. I am looking for 23.00$US per
lot of 10 (postage included). If you're crazy enough to take them
all in bulk, email me and we'll work a sweet deal. US collectors only
please (i have had more than my fair share of large DAT packages opened by
customs of late).
The list of DAt lots can be found at:
http://lynx.neu.edu/j/jcarvalh/dats2go.txt
Email me privately if interested.
Thanks for your time and best regards to all.

I'll post a bandwith tax for this tomorrow. I need to go home tonight and
pick out something to offer.
I need to sell the following:
Core Sound Binaurals (mids - not the low priced ones or the high priced
ones...I think I paid around $250.00 or so new)
I'm selling the mics only. Not the battery box which I will keep to use with
my Core Sound cardioids. $100.00 takes them.
Technics 111 Disc cd player. If you are interested in this...I'll get the
model number and all details. Looking to get $50.00
Both are well taken care of and were owned by one person. (me)
Bandwith tax to be offered on 1/14/03
