i've never done anything like this before, but i would like to try and get
at least a few shows on the upcoming Godspeed, You Black Emperor! n.
american tour taped and traded around as their past shows seem to be pretty
difficult to find. i'm willing to buy tickets for tapers, i'm not sure how
many shows i can afford, but i figured i'd ask around and see if there's any
interest (or if you or anyone you know might be planning to tape them
already, that would be awesome to know too). the dates are:
sun 02 march -- bennington, vermont -- bennington college, lester martin
theater
mon 03 march -- philadelphia, pennsylvania -- starlight ballroom
tue 04 march -- washington, d.c. -- 9:30 club
wed 05 march -- baltimore, maryland -- temple of free masonry
thu 06 march -- carborro, north carolina -- cat's cradle
fri 07 march -- asheville, north carolina -- orange peel
sat 08 march -- athens, georgia -- 40 watt club
sun 09 march -- atlanta, georgia -- variety playhouse
tue 11 march -- new orleans, louisiana -- twiropa
wed 12 march -- houston, texas -- engine room
thu 13 march -- austin, texas -- texas union ballroom
fri 14 march -- forth worth, texas -- ridglea theater
mon 17 march -- columbia, missouri -- blue note
tue 18 march -- omaha, nebraska -- music box
wed 19 march -- minneapolis, minnesota -- first avenue
thu 20 march -- chicago, illinois -- abbey pub
fri 21 march -- chicago, illinois -- abbey pub
mon 24 march -- newport, kentucky -- southgate house
tue 25 march -- cleveland, ohio -- beachland ballroom
wed 26 march -- detroit, michigan -- st. andrew's hall
thu 27 march -- toronto, ontario -- palais royale
sat 29 march -- hamilton, ontario -- tivoli theatre
mon 31 march -- pittsburgh, pennsylvania -- carnegie mellon university,
mcconomy auditorium
tue 01 april -- new york, new york -- bowery ballroom
wed 02 april -- new york, new york -- bowery ballroom
thu 03 april -- brooklyn, new york -- warsaw
fri 04 april -- brooklyn, new york -- warsaw
sat 05 april -- wheaton, massachusetts -- cole chapel - wheaton
sun 06 april -- boston, massachusetts -- the roxy
mon 07 april -- portland, maine -- the skinny
wed 09 april -- halifax, nova scotia -- saint antonio's hall
thu 10 april -- moncton, new brunswick -- oxygen
at this point the only date i think i have covered for a taper is detroit
3-26, so if you're in any of these areas and free and willing to check out a
pretty different kind of band, please send me an email. if this works how
i'd like, i will send you all other GYBE shows i get taped, and i plan to
host anything i get on furthurnet, so it should be a fun project.
thanks!

At the end of December 2002, XM Radio broadcasted a live Joni Mitchell / Jmaes Taylor show. They called it a BBC Live show. The show runs about 52 minutes. Does anyone have a clue as to the venue, city, or exact date? Lemmie know!

I believe CPR allows taping - not sure of the details - for more info,
contact:
Stephen Barncard at sqb@crosbycpr.com
He runs the crosbycpr.com website, as well as being the producer/engineer on
many fine CSN(Y)/CPR albums and archival releases....

Since this is the week of off-topic posts, I would like to offer this
one. Please don't flame me, this is useful information for anyone
who eats "on-the-run" to or from a concert.
Burger King is now selling a $1 cup of chili that's really excellent.
Aside from the rich broth, red, ripe tomatos, onions, and two kinds
of beans, this chili is loaded with BK's famous flame-broiled
hamburger meat. It's more than comparable to a $3-$5 cup of chili
elsewhere.
The $1 menu also includes a baked potato that's quite nice, sour
cream included (save it for the chili?), and, some nice deserts such
as the "Hershey's Chocolate Pie".
I usually choose a $1 burger (the double cheeseburger is nice if
you want something with more glop on it than the Wopper), chili &
baked potato, and for $3.23 with tax, get enough food for 1 1/2
meals or maybe two.

Date: Wed, 15 Jan 2003 09:36:49 -0800
hello,
for sale is one hhb portadat dat recorder and a ecocharge 2-12 volt
battery system. the portadat was bought earlier this year and had a
problem which was fixed with a visit to NXT Generations. items
replaced:
pinch roller
capstan motor
supply brake
takeup brake
they also alligned tape transport, callibrated machine, reseated
cassette holder, bench tested, and cleaned and lubed tape mechanism.
total cost of repairs, including labor, was $400. the deck is in
very good condition cosmetic-wise. also included is the ac adaptor
for the hhb--i don't have any of the hhb batteries. my reason for
selling? i'm not going to be doing any taping in the near future,
and maybe not in the distant future, so all my gear is sold, or is
going to be sold. also for sale is a ecocharge 12 volt battery
system. 2 12 volt batteries and a charger. only 5 shows on each
battery. if someone will buy the portadat and battery system
together i'll let it all go for $1,100.00--not including shipping.
i also have two 12 volt power cables for the portadat from
ecocharge. if sold separately, portadat for $1000, and battery
system for $150.00. of course, prices are negotiable. no lowball
offers. if not sold here it's off to ebay.

Hey Folks...I've been trying to sort out a problem I've been having
with drop-outs. I thought my coax>7 pin cable was bad so I just got
a new one.
Now I find it is actually the BNC>coax connection on the ADC-20 which
has quite a bit of play.
How are other ADC-20 owners dealing with the BNC connector?
I've been considering going from the AES out of the back which seems
more solid.
Any help?...Thanks, Robert

Greetings List,
The famous flame broiled meat happens to irradiated. Furthermore, Burger
King was the first to use irradiation to treat meat for bacteria. Lastly,
radiation cannot be cooked out of the meat during the "Flame-Broiling"
process. I hope this stops any of you from further BK feasting. Radiation
causes cancer.
Peace,

I hope you're not serious.
I hate to perpetuate such an off-topic thread, but I just can't pass up
such a blatant piece of misinformation.
"Radiation causes cancer" while true is a complete non-sequitor to the
above premises. Radiation is photons (light). Where does light go when
it goes out? Where does the radiation go when the irradiator is shut
off? It's gone. The meat is NOT radioactive, the irradiator IS.
Ionizing radiation DOES effect living tissue (that's how it kills
bacteria), but here's a clue: the meat is already dead!
P.S. Meat(1) IS bad for you! I'm a vegetarian.

Hey Mark and All...
David Crosby's band CPR played Hookahville a few years back, and they
made all the tapers drop their stands and mics for his performance. He
is vehemently opposed to audience taping. Not that it stopped too many
people from getting it on tape though.
I hope this helps...

before i got a new rig with active cable setup, i used to run Oktavas in
a hat FOB all the time with amazing results. they are outstanding FOB
mics. (and yes i still say that even tho i now own schoeps)
anyway, its all about finding a hat that can accomadate what you need to
do. i shopped around for a while till i found something that worked
nicely. a kangol type hat seems to work the best cause its roomy and if
you are putting bodies in the hat, you are limited to pretty much running
AB configuration. i would get maybe 70 degrees with aprox 8" between caps.
dead center in the sweet spot, i was bringing it home with that. i got
recorded proof :) theres other things u can do like look for low
pprofile mic cables. they sell thin mic cable for example. i was able to
take off the outer metal xlr sleeve leaving only a small plastic plug that
would hardly stick out from the mic body.
good luck!

Subject: Battery/voltage question
Date: Wed, 15 Jan 2003 19:26:57 -0800 (PST)
So my question has gone unanswered in several other forums. Sorry
for the non-DAT/digital taping q, but this is the most technically
savvy group I know of . . .
I have an RCA portable DVD player (DRC600N) that runs off a
detachable Li Ion battery (also runs AC). The specs on the battery
are: 7.4V and 5400mAh. Energizer makes a generic "portbale DVD
battery" that is a lot cheaper than a second RCA battery. The specs
on the Energizer are 7.2V and 4500mAh and it is a NiMH type. Both
batteries have their own rechargers.
Does the difference in the voltage between the two batteries make the
Energizer unusable? Would using the Energizer potentially damage the
DVD player? Or would the Energizer work fine but be less efficient
than the RCA battery?
Thanks for the help . . .
