Thursday, January 30 - 9:00 pm Open to All Ages!
SOUL BRAINS (A.K.A. BAD BRAINS) REUNION TOUR
with H.R. DR. KNOW, DARYL JENIFER & EARL HUDSON
w/ Sucker & Stuntdoubles
By melding punk with reggae, Bad Brains became one of the
definitive American hardcore punk groups of the early 80's. The
temperamental roar of their thrasher punk songs coupled with their
radically contrasting junkets into dub and reggae have forever
raised them to an untouchable, almost god-like musical plateau.
The masses often put off by "hardcore" are succumbed by the
band's Rastafarian, "positive mental attitude" and overtly
political views seamlessly melded into culturally and racially
affirmed music. One of the most underrated rock bands of the last
15-20 years, dubbed "the greatest punk-jazz-fusion-hardcore-rasta-
reggae-gospel outfit ever", graces our stage tonight! This show is
open to all ages.
****SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR E-MAIL LIST ONLY! THE FIRST 100
PEOPLE WHO PRINT THIS MESSAGE AND BRING IT IN, OR MENTION THIS TO
THE BOX OFFICE WHEN YOU CALL WILL BE ABLE TO PURCHASE TICKETS TO

Anyone able to go and roll this one? Let me know if we might be able to work
something out. I've just been on a BB kick and would love to hear how they
are sounding. Unfortunately I can't go.

I'm looking to buy a new sound card for my desktop computer. The only
requirements are Windows XP compatible, 24-bit 96khz recording & playback.
and does not needlessly resample. This sound card will be used primarily
to transfer my DAT collection to my HD. Is there a sound card out that
meets these requirments and is less than $200.

I'm not saying the below info is crap, but I will tell you that "matching
components" never made a bit of audible or otherwise noticeable
difference in any recordings from either battery box I've made. Just use
1% tolerance parts if you can find them. I used 5% both times and they
work flawlessly.

Subject: Battery Box

I've made the battery box that the below link details. Actually, I've
made two - the second one was much smaller than the first (learning
curve...), and I added a switchable "bass roll-off" feature, by simply
putting both listed values of capacitors in in, with appropriate
switches. I found it very easy (my first genuine soldering
electronic-geek project) and very, very cheap. Less than $10 will get
you enough parts to make three of these guys...
BTW, I've made some great recordings with Core LEBs > D8 mic in, but any
high sound pressure will make you never want to try it again. Battery >
line-in is the way to go with nearly any mics and the Sony portables...

Subject: Eco-Charge / V2 problems...still /// BWT
Date: Tue, 28 Jan 2003 08:19:08 -0800 (PST)
Nmamaste Y'all!
Well, i'm still having trouble with the
afore-mentioned items:
First week of January i tape in Nowhere NM and after a
great show in which all worked well i go back to our
rented cabin to plug in the Eco for the night. I am
somewhat 'faced and tired so i don't notice if the
green/yellow light comes on the wall-wart. I am sure
there was no red light though!
Unplug the Eco-Charge next morning with the light
glowing green, thinking it's a full charge...
Head out to Doc Watson in Tucson AZ that night and get
a SWEET stealth-spot and find that all the "warning"
lights on the V2 are on :(
These include [and please correct me, as i have
searched high and low for my manuals, but alas, spring
cleaning has yet to arrive at mi casa] both "power"
and "low batt" lights aglow...and the red "peak"
lights glowing when the mics are powered to their
lowest.
Get back home and plug in the wall-wort and it glows
green.
Plug in the Eco-Charge to the 'wart and it still glows
green.
Yet the batt takes no charge.
Any help for this confusingly simple problem?

Subject: FS: Ultimate M1 Package
Date: Tue, 28 Jan 2003 15:03:52 -0500
This is the "Ultimate M1 Package" for sale. Here's why:
Sony PCM-M1 Portable DAT Recorder, Still Under Warranty! M1 and IDS
warranty purchased 11/98 from the Oade's (Hi-Fi Sales & Service), valid
through 11/11/2003, Oades can do warranty service. This unit has seen
extremely low use, probably under 75 record hours for mastering and
less for playback. I use R500's for cloning/playback almost
exclusively. Having sold my mics over a year ago, I've used it twice
for patching and am just not into the live taping thing these days, so
it's time to part with this. I still have all original manuals and
accessories (except AA batteries):
---Sony "leatherette" case for M1
---Earbud Headphones
---AC wall charger/power adaptor
---NiMH Battery charger sled
---missing AA NiMH batteries (can get from Radio Shack for little $,
but see below for better rechargeable option)
Extras:
---Pro Digital 7-pin Digital I/O Cable (orig. $120, can you even get
these anymore? Grey 7-pin with voltage for M1.)
---Sony D100 Wired Remote Control (orig. $120, provided only with the
D100 model, I purchased this separately, great for stealth)
---Heavy padded case fits M1, patch cable, and rechargeable battery
pack (see below).
---Extra AC power adaptor with EUROPEAN plug/voltage (ready for Euro
tour!)
---Automobile power adaptor for road trips!
---TWO super-rechargeable external power packs that last hours and
hours and hours (I've done several shows in a row and have yet to have
one run out of juice. This is why I stopped using AA's.).
---Monster Cable XLR->1/8" stereo mini (for recording from most
soundboards)
---Monster Cable RCA<-->1/8" stereo mini (for connection to home stereo
components)
---Monster Cable RCA splitter (for splitting digi-patch signals)
---female/female RCA "barrel" adaptor (for connecting digi-patch cables)
---Translucent Red static film for covering the bright blue LCD in
stealth situations. (Security guards are attracted to that blue glow
like moths to a flame.)
Get all this plus a fresh Sony DG-90m tape to get you started recording
your first show. You're ready for just about any kind of patching or
recording situation.
"What," you say, "no mics?"
Heck I guess I'll throw in some mics, too. I've got a pair of Sound
Professionals Deluxe Mini Hard Wired Binaural Stealth Microphones with
extra batteries.
