Hey Chuck,
The Creative Labs and Phillips products are really not meant for this type
of use. Yes, they have SPDIF inputs/outputs but they also resample
everything needlessly, and are known for dropping samples. The Opcode
DATport will do the transfers appropriately assuming your on Windows 98, as
that's the only supported OS.
Some other options are the Edirol UA-1D
http://www.edirol.com/products/info/ua1d.html
If your looking for a robust 24bit/96kHz capable card I would recommend the
EgoSys Waveterminal 2496. This is good for DAT transfers (digital
transfers), analog transfers, analog and digital playback.
http://www.esi-pro.com/esi-pro/eng/product/wt_2496/wt2496.html
They are both available at our website:

Hi K.C.,
I'm guessing your problem here is not in the software you are using but
rather the drivers that the DATport uses.
Are you using Windows 98?
If not you may be out of luck. Opcode has done nothing to update the
drivers for this unit since January 15, 1999. So don't expect it to work
with Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP. I'm not even sure if it will
work with Windows 98 S.E. for that matter.
Check my previous post to the list for other options for this type of
application.

I've decided to (finally) take on a V3 to replace my current pre-amp>A/D
functionality.
I have a Sound Devices MP-2 pre-amp that is in pristine condition with no
scratches. Purchased new from Sonic Sense in October of 2000. Lightly used
and in perfect working order. Have original box and receipt. Would like to
get $500.00.
Also, a Graham-Patten ADC-20, 48kHz version. I purchased this used last
summer and it has some very minor blemishes on the case but is also in
perfect working condition. Would like to get $300.00 but will take $775.00
if you want both. Will throw in the two 6v Ech-Charge power cables. I will
cover shipping (C.O.D) and insurance.

Dynamic Audio Binaurals for Sale
DAB's as their often called are very popular mics among the smashing
pumpkins community. They are similar in design to the standard core sound
binaurals although not as expensive. I feel they actually perform better
then csb's especially close to the stacks. That's where these mics really
shine. They have never distorted for me and can handel up to 130db + which
does make them ideal for loud shows. I have only used these mics about 10
times both with a sharp MD and a D7. They come with the batterybox with
switchable bass roll off (roll off is 120hz or flat). Here is a picture of
the capsules which are closely matched.
http://webpages.charter.net/dlzpayne/images/binaural2.JPG
I paid $140 for these and i'm looking to get $100 for them. Sound samples
available on request. Reason for selling don't need stealth mics so I'm
switching to full bodied ones. Any other questions please go ahead and ask.
Andrew

I am a lucky sonofab*tch today!
I was the 9th caller to the radio station and won tickets to the following
3 concerts in Philadelphia at the Electric Factory:
-Jagermeister Tour (Saliva, Systematic, Stereomud and Wolfpac)!
-Audioslave (tried to get tickets to this 30 mins after going onsale, but
was sold out in 7 mins)!
-Zwan!
It is all Gen. Admission and I would like to tape all three. I know Zwan
allows recording - anyone know of a tour manager's name I can drop at the
door if hassled by a burly type? Pretty sure it is stealth-only for the
others. Last time I was at the Electric Factory was late 2001 when a good
pat-down was all one had to worry about. Any updates on that
end? Wanding, etc?
How about a recommendation as to the best place to record in the house?
Thanks a lot!

I have decided to begin work on a Gybe Live Recording History website. This
will hopefully, by the end of this tour, be a place for individuals to:
-add their recordings to known sources for godspeed shows
-be added to a list of tapers willing to trade their shows with fellow
tapers
-find links on publically traded and publically hosted shows
-submit reviews via email to be posted on the site for recently and past
attended godspeed shows, including setlists.
The very very very basics are up at:
http://espialglow.topcities.com/main.html
I know there are banners, but such is a free site and the work of an amateur
such as myself. Learning html along the way, hopefully things will look a
lot
better by the end of the tour. I do need your help! If you have recorded
shows, know someone who recorded shows, or plan to record shows, please
e-mail me at:
jesusishererun@hotmail.com or
jesusishererun@yahoo.com
If you would like to continue just working with Ty, give hime a shout at:
tylendel@barrettworld.com
All information would be kept as confidential as you would like. Please
include the following information:
-what show(s) you have/plan on taping
-the equipment used
-whether you want a name credited to the show (ex: Taped by: ____)
-whether you want your e-mail/website displayed publically
-whether you want your e-mail put on a private list for tapers to trade with
tapers
Feel free to e-mail me with any advice, helpful links, or just to shoot the
breeze. This is going to take a long while to get rolling, especially in
finding
out old and foriegn shows, and I really need the help of others on this.
Thanks!
Be well,
Keith
