hey hey - I'm wondering if anyone here can give me
some input on mounting some Schoeps capsules in a
hat...my last hat used a peice of sheet metal and some
velcro to mount the Neumann clamp inside one of the
redneck trucker hats with the mesh in the back (sewed
the vecro in the front of the hat and wore it
backwards with the mics pointing through the
acoustically transparent mesh), and I liked this b/c
it kept the mics from pointing down...I think we'll
wind up using one of the Kangol golf hats like the one
Wild Bill has....
Thanks!

Not trying to be too contradictory, but despite warnings about longer tapes,
I have used ONLY 90 meter (3-hour) tapes in my M1 for 5 years with no
problems whatsoever. The only time I had a loading/unloading/wrinkling tape
problem as described (once, about 9 months ago), I ran my headcleaning tape
for a couple of 20-second cycles and never had the problem again...
Also - if your tape misloads/tangles/wrinkles - get it out of the deck,
throw it away, run a headcleaner, and use a fresh tape - at worst, you've
only lost $2.00-2.25.

Date: Fri, 28 Feb 2003 20:30:32 +0000
last weekend i taped a ween show but had a problem with my deck and did not
actually get a tape, but several people were patched out of my rig. trying
to get a copy of "my own" recording, i was lucky to have one of the guys who
patched get in touch with me... but he has a problem. his tape appears to be
blank. he said the levels were present during the recording but nothing is
on the tape now. i have heard of tapes being twisted in loading or
rewinding, and the information winds up being on the back of the tape. could
someone please send me some tips on recovering the recording? i really want
it to dub with my video. thanks

Someone sent me a very nice 2-disc set of this show with Steve and the
Dukes from La Zona Rosa in Austin. It sounds like a sbd or pre-FM. Does
anyone know the provenance for sure?
Open for trades, and for bwt will take a couple B&P also.

back in late 80's or early 90's there was a radio show about the 1967
monterey pop festival that was comprised of about 8 CDs that i'm
looking for. had lots of interviews, etc, not just music. not looking
for a recording off the FM airwaves, would like clones of the actual
radio broadcast CDs.

what the manual says on page 43 is:
"Do not use cassette tapes with playing time of over 120 minutes to record
important material since such tapes are subject to the following problems:
- sound distortion
- unstable tape speed after repeated AMS, rewinding, fast-forwarding,
cueing, or reviewing operations
- incorrect writing and erasing of Start Ids"
i personally think that as long as you are not stressing the tape out by
doing things like "repeated AMS, rewinding/ffwd/etc" you should have no
problems
many people use 90m tapes in their decks with no problems (me included, in a
D7, d100, tascam da20, and tascam da 20mkii)
i do acknowledge that the potential for problems with 90meter tapes is
greater than with 60meter tapes, & therefore only use them for shows longer
than 2 hours, but again, i've never had any problems specifically due to
using a 90meter tape
you mileage will vary...do what you think is best in your experience....but
no one can say that you will definitely have a problem if you use a 90m tape
in a m1/d100

ouch! i've been using the sony DGPs ever since maxell changed their DDS
tapes & i had diginoise problems with the maxells in my tascams, and the
sonys have worked fine for me
i'm disappointed to hear that sony has changed their tapes now (???)
does anyone know which vendors still have a supply of the old ones?????

i think that has been discussed up here a bunch of times in the past, that
there may be different "laws" for different states etc...try searching the
archives (?)
i'm not a lawyer, but unless they make you sign something that says "all
recording equipment brought in becomes the property of blah blah blah" i
don't think they can "legally" seize or damage anything (any comments from
lawyers?)

as far as i know it is his management that is vehememtly anti-taping, rather
than EJ himself...i've heard that they troll the crowd looking for tapers
during the shows

As do Duke Robillard, Smokin' Joe Kubek, and Chris Duarte. I've recorded all
3, with sbd patches at SJK and Duarte shows.
Duarte only has one request...that being that you send a copy of your
recording to the fan club prez for the archives. Not an unreasonable
request. He allows both audio and video recording.

Hello everyone,
If anyone here plans on seeing Bon Jovi over the next couple of weeks I'd
like to speak with them by email about some things about the shows.
Like how long their show runs this time around?
About what time I can expect them to take the stage?
Is there another act that plays before the Goo Goo Dolls?
How long the Goo Goo Dolls perform as well?
Please email me if you can help or have any suggestions.
Thanks all.
