This is a very exciting chance for Americans and Canadians to see this = band live for the first time, don't miss it (and please tape at least = one of these if you can!!). Here are the dates: 23rd of april 2003, philadelphia (usa, pa) 24th of april 2003, new york city (usa, ny) 25th of april 2003, windsor ontario (canada) 26th of april 2003, toronto (canada) 02nd of may 2003, norfolk (usa, va) Unfortunately no actual venues are known yet (the above info is all that = is shown on their website at www.malory-music.com).=20 If anyone tapes any of these, please let me know. It wasn't any major thing but they did make him shut down. >This was a free outdoor show too. Overall though, Chris is more than >cool about taping. At another free outdoor show that Duarte played, I >was hassled at the end by the promoter (of all people) and he called the >cops over to say that I was a "bootlegger." Chris happened to be >signing autographs nearby and ended up telling the cop and promoter that >he allows recording. Definitely cool about audio! Not so sure about video. If someone got busted recording CDG, either audio or video, I can assure you it was the venue shutting him down, not Chris or his people. He is very pro-taper, in both formats. As I posted, he only asks that you send a copy to the fan club prez, Craig Keyzer, who is also the official archivist. If you go to the website www.chrisduartegroupfans.org and go to the archives section, you'll see that there is a ton of both audio and video available for trade. When you send Craig a show you've recorded, he'll send you an equal amount of media, with a CDG show on it of course, in trade. The only time I've ever had a problem recording Chris was last summer at the House of Blues in Cambridge, MA. They have a strict no-taping policy, unless the artist signs some lengthy "you can't release this without paying us a zillion dollars" waiver. I stealthed that show, with Chris' prior approval. In fact, he was somewhat amused/intrigued that his taper fans would go to that extent to get his show. If you've ever seen him, you know why we do. I'm heading to the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, AR next week for the annual Duarte-fest...3 show in 2 days...and have already secured a patch for audio and will be one of at least 4 people video recording. Gonna be a hot time in the Ozarks next weekend! >Duke Robillard must have changed his policy. I was told he (at least his management) was against taping. I recorded Duke at Chan's, in his hometown of Woonsocket, RI, last December, and was talking to Duke for a couple of minutes at our table between sets. I had my stuff set up at the table, and talked about recording the show and how I wished I had gotten a show he did there a few years ago with John Hammond. If he was against taping, I'm guessing he'd have made mention of it, or had someone shut me down. Neither happened. Maybe he was full of the Christmas spirit, or just glad to be home, but I had no problems at all. Mark ------------------------------ From: "Bonnie & Cleve Svetlik" Subject: DDS tapes vs audio DAT tapes Date: Sun, 2 Mar 2003 09:19:46 -0500 Tascam's web site has some info on what the cassette identification holes stand for - go to www.tascam.com, click on "products", go down to the DA-P1 deck listing, click on the PDF file, and it is on page 5. Personally, I have used DDS tapes - which are trouble free on my SONY D7 & D8's in the past, but I switched a few years ago to only audio DATS since they have a thicker backing and are less prone to potential tape problems. Somewhere there is an article floating around on the merits of each type of tape, suffice to say the DDS tapes are certified error free, but you risk tape handling problems because of the generally thinner backing. Note: not all DDS tapes use thinner backing - some of the shorter tapes have thicker backing - - it is in the article I can't find. Possibly someone will do a web search and post the info here. I just don't have the time to do it at the moment. For the price difference in the tape, I do not think risking a tape problem is worth it. (Also - the older the deck, and the harder the rubber goods become, the higher potential for tape problems.) ------------------------------ From: alles.kraft@t-online.de (McForce) Subject: taping policy: lucinda williams / arlo guthrie? Right at the entrance to the room, notices were posted, 'No cameras, tape recorders or video recorders of any kind are allowed. If you are found using one, you will be asked to leave the premises.' 3/4s of the way thru the show, someone close to where I was sitting used a flash for a photo and they were escorted from the premises. Includes: - 2 mv692 bodies (15 - 52v) - 3 m70 (card) capsules (one as a spare) - 2 m93 (omni) capsules Over the past year I bought each (capsules / bodies) as a set, however, each do NOT have sequential serial numbers. The bodies are the older verison (Gefell still makes this mic in Germany) but are (each body) from different eras, since one mic has a flat finish (black) and the other w/a satin-gloss finish. I've used these for home recording and live taping (i. Garaj, Fareed, etc), and have had wonderful results. One of the omni's will need adjustment or work since i've noticed different results in the high/lows. Beyond that, the other 4 caps work perfect. Please contact me w/any questions. Reason for selling: looking at a beautiful gibson archtop guitar. Pics per request. Price: $600 (paid approx $800 one year back for the sets) Chris Evans chrvans@hotmail.com _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------ From: michael ryan Subject: Old And In the Gray, State theatre,VA. Using CEP, what are the next steps I go through in order to create a perfectly synched mix? I've messed around with such features as punching and snapping but I can't figure anything out. I've also ran into the problem of lining up the sources at the beginning, but torwards the end they don't sound synched. What can I do there? If you can point me in ANY right direction, I would greatly appreciate it, thank you. :) --Chris Manichanh ===== Check out my site: http://www.geocities.com/chris_83_01/ChrisDMB.html __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
