Seeing them in a few days, just wondering what their taping policy
happens to be. Stealth, or "cool"? I've read conflicting reports
elsewhere, and I just noticed that they were removed from Furthurnet
(not a good sign of a clear policy) so if anyone has had any
experience taping them, I'd love to hear about it. I'm assuming
stealth, but I'd like to know how lenient they are, if any.

"OLD & IN THE WAY"! He has some but would like to try and find all that may be
out there. If you have any, cassettes, reels, or already transfered, please
contact me off list. I have thousands of shows for you to pick from in return.

Greetings and salutations.
The Godspeed You! Black Emperor tour has started up, please submit concert
reviews to perplexed_rose@hotmail.com or if you recorded or know anyone who
did, have them contact me at jesusishererun@yahoo.com .
I also received the following e-mail, regarding the 3-2-03 show in Vermont:
"hey, I was talking to a friend of mine the other day who is booking the
GY!BE show here, and he asked them about taping and evidently they are not
cool with it on this tour evidently. i think their present tour manager must
be against it or something. you may want to double check before you bring
anything in or go stealth."
So be warned :-)
Be well,

Subject: DAT vs. DDS
Date: Mon, 3 Mar 2003 16:48:06 +0100
Hi everyone!
When I started taping shows using M1, I always bought the usual DAT =
tapes at the local Audioshop in town. Although since they are quite =
expensive in Sweden (about 70 SKR for a 90-minute tape!) I quite soon =
started buying DDS-tapes which were 90m (3 hours). By doing this I can =
always record a full show, and not risking missing anything ( I can even =
start recording a while before the actual show starts), and I get my =
90ms for half the price here.
Of course, I never record twice on any tapes. I always record, play it =
(to transfer it to CD) and then store it, so I never have to rewind it =
lots of times etc. to worry about any disfuntion. I actually find =
DDS-tapes more accurate (only judged my my ears of course). And they are =
defenitely worth a lot more to me than the regular DAT-tapes (which only =
excist in 2 hour-tapes at most here in Sweden - and they cost even more =
than 90 minutes!!!!)

Hi,
I saw through the DAT Heads archives that a David Pinsky had taped the AIR
10/13/98 concert at Bimbos in SF. I have the same show but I don't have a
set list for it. If you're still on this list would you (or anyone for that
matter) by chance be able to provide one. Much appreciated. Let me know off
list and sorry for the bandwidth.
Thank you,

Hi all
Just got a "hardly used" DA-P1. Not finished testing it yet, but the only problems I've seen so far are
1) when running block-error diagnostic mode, some older tapes that were shipped with the unit give large error counts at times, along with crackles: I'm tentatively attributing this to bad tapes since the errors always occur at the same place on the tapes.
2) at least one tape at times plays a dull clicking sound (at about 5-10 Hz) over the regular audio (which is otherwise undistorted), with error count at near-zero: if the tape is stopped and restarted, the problem goes away but may reappear later. Could this be some sort of tape-tracking problem?
these tapes are Maxells (audio quality?), all under 2 hrs. about 5 years old. I've recorded on only 1 new blank tape (HHB 120 min.) so far, and it hasn't given any problems (so far).
thanks,
Sy

I tried to sell this item here before for $275.00 (I paid $300.00 for it last summer) but its been brought to my attention that the introduction of the V3's and MMe's have driven the price down on this unit significantly and that its worth more in the $150.00 - 200.00 range today. Make me an offer as I could use this tiny chunk of change to help pay for my V3!

Hey Folks,
Just picked up the 2-19-02 Bruce Springsteen benefit concert at the
Someville Theater. Nice FOB recording done with Schoeps MK4->Sony SBM1 (I'm
trying to verify the in-between lineage). 1x90 meters, but some of the encore
unfortunately gets cut. I'd like to trade for HQ FOBs of recent McCartney,
Stones, CSNY, or especially any Eagles. Send list/link if you're interested.
Thanks!

Date: Tue, 4 Mar 2003 12:08:55 +1100
Our D8 is starting to display the much dreaded tape slippage problems in the
last half hour of playback, there are gaps and distortions in the playback,
sometimes the tape switches off completely.
The alarming thing appears to be, that tapes which played back flawlessly in
the past, seem to get damaged through the playback in the faulty D8! We
played these tapes back on a D100 and they also have distortions in the
sections that had playback problems in the D8.
Has anybody else had that experience of tapes getting damaged through
playback in a faulty DAT machine (apart from the problems arising when the
tape gets eaten by the DAT machine) ?

Subject: TCD-D100 Question
Date: Mon, 3 Mar 2003 18:46:07 -0800
I purchased a TCD-D100 that didn't have a battery cover (works okay
otherwise). I ordered a replacement battery cover from Sony, which arrived
today. One thing it noticed is that there wasn't any metal on the cover,
just plastic. When I put the batteries in and put the cover on...nothing.
I'm wondering - is there supposed to be a piece of metal on the cover as
well to complete the circuit? If so, I'll get back in touch with Sony and
try to figure out if there is actually a part for this. Finding a battery
cover was an adventure, so I imagine that finding a metal clip for it should
really be fun.
One other thing - if there isn't a metal clip on the cover, is there a
special button sequence you have to execute to turn the unit on under
battery power?
Thanks,
Gregory
