For all you Portland tapers out there, there's going to be a performance of
The Wall @ the Crystal Ballroom by The Floydian Slips on March 22nd and I've
been given the OK to audio & videotape the show. It would be great to see a
big turnout of tapers in the hopes that our style of word of mouth might
help make events like this more recognized & more common. Please read

DATE: Saturday, March 22, 2003
LOCATION: Crystal Ballroom -- 1332 W. Burnside, Portland OR (503) 225-0047
King Nimrod presents
Pink Floyds "The Wall".
Performed by THE FLOYDIAN SLIPS
John Shipe
Veteran Oregon-based musicians will band together in
Portland to re-create the exacting sights and sounds of Pink
Floyd's classic album "The Wall" as well as other classic Pink
Floyd songs from other albums.
Led offstage by Eugene promoter Brendan Relaford, who
plays bass for The Floydian Slips, the ensemble features Al
Toribio, formerly of Kerosene Dream and the Renegade
Saints, playing lead and slide guitars; Paul Lesinski, former
lead guitarist for The Strangers, provides rhythm guitar and
vocals; Rich Sellars, formerly of Palace and currently in
Satin Love Orchestra and Shelley James Musicbox, plays
drums and percussion while singing lead and assuming the
role of "Pink." Asher Fulero brings to life the ethereal "Wall"
sound with his keyboard work and backup vocals, Ned Failing
formerly of the Strangers and currently drummer for Lea
Krueger trades off with Rich on drums and percussion;
Eugene diva Shelley James of Satin Love Orchestra and
musicbox sings distinct background vocals and plays
percussion; Cal Coleman plays second keyboards and also
provides background vocals; and Ehren Ebbage plays
acoustic guitar and provides background vocals.
The show will also feature a massive high-powered light
show with special effects rarely seen in a club or theatre
setting.
The Floydian Slips evolved from a 1997 one-time
presentation of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon." The
first show played to a capacity audience at the Wild Duck
Music Hall on May 31, 1997. The audience loudly requested
the entire show to be played again for the encore. In
response to this overwhelming acclaim, the band performed
another show in the fall of 1997, adding Pink Floyd songs
from such albums as "The Wall," "Meddle" and "Wish You
Were Here" for the encore. Relaford then upped the pace,
bringing Dark Side of the Moon to the 1998 Oregon County
Fair and the 1999 Filbert Festival.
In October of 2000, the band switched albums and
performed two shows of "The Wall" at the Wild Duck Music
Hall to popular acclaim. In 2001, the group twice performed
"The Wall," this time at the newly re-opened historic
McDonald Theatre in Eugene. After more than a year off, the
group came together again to perform "The Wall" to a
capacity crowd at the McDonald Theatre on January 18,
2003.

that? I believe I would need another recording
system other than the creative like pro edit or

Date: Fri, 14 Mar 2003 12:58:09 -0500
Since I got no response to my post inquiring about security at this venue,
here's my report for future reference, hopefully this will help anyone else
stealthing at this venue. Since it is my understanding that this venue
usually does dance / rave type of events, security is VERY tight. Metal
detector wands AND a full patdown at the door. 6-8 goons with headsets
roaming the floor. Several more goons at the bathroom entrances, and some
guy inside the bathroom selling trinkets. Nowhere in the venue that is out
of sight enough to set up. Floor is well lit until the show starts. Hard
to get the equipment in, hard to set up, goons moving through the crowd
constantly, but the effort is worth it.....venue has a pretty decent PA and
acoustics, and pretty much anywhere in there is FOB....PA stacks are on the
floor, but are not too low as to be totally obscured by the crowd when using
concealed mics. Righthand PA stack is placed further back than the left
one, so for best stereo imaging get as far forward as the crowd allows.
Happy stealthing and good luck.....
Thanks for the posting,
Yours Truly,
john e. bogus

I just put my DSM 6s/M mics up for sale on ebay. They're great for tapers,
and very stealthy for sneaking into shows with a mini disc player.
They've also been a favorite of the list for some time now, so you might
want to buy them while you can.
Auction here:

Personal Offers also accepted.
I'm also willing to drop the auction alltogether if someone's willing to
trade me a large condenser mic (AKG, r0de, studio projects, etc.) of equal
value.
Thanks,

FS MOD sbm-1 with two mods performed by Doug Oade. They are detailed below:
a complete line stage rebuild which dramatically improves the sense of depth and detail in the SBM-1. An additional 6 dB of gain is available at your request, we recommend this only if you are NOT using an external preamp. We disable the mic preamp for this upgrade as the stock chips use too much power.
I did not have the 6 dB of gain added as I was using an external preamp.
a Digital I/O upgrade which provides a coax digital output cable. The end result is a standard coax output on the SBM-1.
I am asking for $650+ shipping. Please email inquiries and offers to me.
Thanks

Hey all,
I have a request for anyone's input here, since I know there is a lot of
combined knowledge on this list.
I have a digital optical out (you may have heard me write about it before)
that I can not get to sample properly into my Guillemot Hercules
soundcard... I know, I know not the best, but it is comparable to the
Soundblaster Audigy setup, but much less expensive.
I am addressing these issues with the mfgr, but I need to understand the
problem first. It sounds fine, until high frequency and / or high amplitude
parts, then it gets a static sound (digital noise I am assuming). My
question is, why does it happen? The card supports smapling up to 48kHz,
and I am running at 44.1kHz as far as I know. Is it possible to get this
effect when sampling a 44.1kHz input at 48kHz?
I have the latest drivers for the card, but something is not kosher. Any
ideas?
TIA,
Dave
