From: "Rich Vining" <rvining@emory.edu> Subject: DAT recovery? Date: Sat, 15 Mar 2003 03:15:53 -0500 Sorry to post this, as I feel like I'm wasting bandwidth, but I figured this was the best place to turn. I taped Jump, Little Children in Chattanooga last week. Two shows. Late show came out great, but I checked my tape from the early show today and it appears to be blank. Tape was running through the show, I had levels, everything seemed fine and dandy. Rewound it, put it away, that was that. Tried to listen today and no dice. Tape runs, doesn't read as blank, but I don't hear any audio. Any ideas? I'd love to be able to recover this if it is on there at all, as it was really a wonderful set. Dang it. FYI, I was taping with mic's into a D7 through the line in jack. I've taped twice since then with the same setup and those tapes were fine. Help? If this is covered elsewhere feel free to point me in that direction. Thanks! - R ====================================================================== Richard Vining rvining@emory.edu
From: Eliot Byron <ebyron1@nyc.rr.com> Subject: M-Audio Audiophile 2496 Questions Date: Sat, 15 Mar 2003 08:33:52 -0500 I am trying to transfer some DATs to CD I'm using a PowerMac G4 400 running OS 10.2.4 384 real RAM and an M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 DAT Decks are Tascam DA30, a Sony D100, and a Sony D10 pro II (I DO HAVE the SP/DIF cables for the Sony's) All I want to do is run the DATs into the computer, chop them into tracks, and burn them with Toast. I do not think I need more tracks than two, and would like to avoid the complex multi-track programs What is a good two track editor? Please let me know on list or off Eliot NYC

From: "Chuck Miller" <calicocourt@gbronline.com> Subject: DAT to Hard Drive ?? Reply-To: <chuckmiller@stones.com> Date: Sat, 15 Mar 2003 09:04:37 -0700 I can't figure out how to transfer digital info from my DAT through my (new Zoltrix Nightingale) into Nuendo to save on my hard drive. When I connect the coax output of the deck to the coax input on the soundcard I can hear the audio. When I open Nuendo, the audio goes away and I can't get it to record. Please help? I don't have the basic understanding of how to transfer through my soundcard to the recording program . I also have CoolEdit 2 Pro. If it's easier to use it, I will, but I can't get it to work with that program either. Chuck Miller calicocourt@gbronline.com
From: "Adam Aronson" <adam@aronson.net> Subject: ISO: ProjeKct Two 5/1/1998 DAT Clone Date: Sat, 15 Mar 2003 11:48:43 -0500 I am looking for the original taper or a clone of the original DAT from this show. The CDR version I have has been... let's say... edited for content. The 'masterer' decided to cut the ends off a few tunes. :v( And, of course... I'm interested in any 2003 King Crimson shows. Thanks, Adam List of tradable audio: http://www.aronson.net/audiolist.html

From: Philip Dinhofer <philipdinhofer@yahoo.com> Subject: ISO: Harry Chapin - Bottom Line Compilation Date: Sat, 15 Mar 2003 09:34:17 -0800 (PST) Years ago I had an analog that circulated of a compilation of songs from a 10 day stint Harry Chapin did at the Bottom Line in NYC in the early-mid 70's. The cassette is long lost and I would love to replace it. Anybody have this or any other live Harry Chapin? Loads to trade in return. From: "David Klein" <davidklein@canada.com> Subject: RE: digital sampling woes Reply-To: <davidklein@canada.com> Date: Sat, 15 Mar 2003 15:18:27 -0500 I had the same thing with a Hercules card and returned it, also because I discovered that it resamples. Had the static problem with the next card (Zoltrix Nightingale) and then found that for some reason, it was affected by the graphics accleration settings in Windows. Best I can guess it video creates a lot of traffic on the bus or something. I've told a bunch of people about this and it seems to consistently fix the problem. Assuming you're on windows, you'll find the settings by right-clicking My Computer, properties, performance, graphics and then try dialling down the hardware acceleration from full until the static goes away. Good luck. david ------------------ Guillemot Hercules soundcard... gets a static sound

(CA, OR, WA) Wanna do me a favor, and record some hot reggae? Some are full band, others are DJ shows, but i'd like to see if I can't line up recordings for as many as possible.
