Subject: Bruce Springsteen Somerville benefit shows
Date: Tue, 18 Mar 2003 08:53:46 -0800
I have both nights of Bruce Springsteen's February 19 and 20th acoustic
benefit shows at the Somerville Theatre for trade. In these shows, Bruce had
just a piano and guitar with him and talked about the writing of the songs
and took questions from the audience.
They were both taped from close to the stage (fifth row Wednesday and third
row Thursday), so they pick up Bruce's words, even when he wasn't speaking
into the mics. They were recorded with Sonic Studios - DSM6 signature
edition mics and a Sony TCD-D100. They have been digitally imported using a
LynxOne Digital Audio card and edited with Cool Edit Pro 2.0 to boost the
volume of Bruce's vocals and reduce the crowd noise and applause.
The first night is complete. (There's a version being traded now which cuts
about half the Q & A due to the taper's tape running out.) The second night
starts good for the first half. However, about halfway into the show (during
the intro to Sherry Darling), the recording level was raised too high and
there's some distortion on any loud part for the rest of the show. .
If you're interested in one or both shows, shoot me over your list and
shipping address we can go from there.

Hi Christian,
The 4060's have an SPL of 134dB. Your never going to get to those levels in
a concert setting, even if your standing next to the PA. Some speakers may
be able output 140dB at 1 meter, but your not going to see any FOH engineers
pushing the levels that high at a concert.

For Sale,
Core Sound High Binaural (4061 capsules) and battery box/switchable
bass
roll-off filter (flat and filter).
The battery box has been modified to work line-in with a cut off of
about 80hz on a M1/D100. It can be switched between filter and
flat. I always ran it line in, I feel the signal is cleaner, thats
why it was moded...which to me makes the mics even more sweet. But
before the mod was done I ran with no filter and still made really
nice tapes, and the box is switchable, so you will have that
option.
For more info., please visit http://www.core-sound.com/bk.html
Only owner and purchased directly from Core-Sound in September of
2001. They are in excellent condition.
If interested, please email me at jroth793@attbi.com . Would like to
sell for 700.00 (shipping included)
Thanks,
Jason

I hate to go correcting people, and this is non-DAT, but someone mentioned
MiniDV earlier and said it uses Mpeg2 compression. That's wrong. MiniDV (and
DV, DVCAM and DVC Pro) all use the DV (Digital Video) compression codec
(coder-decoder). This uses different compression techniques to Mpeg and
other video codecs and is not directly compatible.
As for making the camera do analogue in, if its got DV in I am surprised it
doesn't have analogue also, try searching on the net to see if you can get a
'widget' to unlock this feature...

A friend of mine who is just getting big in the local scene, and asked me
advice on what mic she should get when she is doing her solo-sessions in her

I record shows with AT831 mics, but i don't think they are the best for this
situation. i think one of those mics with a stand and is about the size of a
twinky, right?
And Joe replies:
Just what type of solo sessions are we talking about!
