Has anyone here tried the ER-6's and can comment on their performance
(especially compared to the ER-4's)? They are $200 less than the
ER-4's.
Thanks,
Alan

I am having the hardest time getting my new Nightingale to work correctly.
When I try to transfer 48 kHz from my DAT thru the COAX input on the
Nightingale, the sound is fuzzy. Through various test I've found it works
correctly when the DAT source is 44.1 kHz.
I know the source DAT is OK, because it sounds great through my digital
audio amp.
I've tried various CMI 8738 drivers with no luck
The latest C-Media mixer version I have is v1.44.
I've also tried previous C-media drivers with the same bad results.
I've tried every combination of mixer settings with no luck.
I'm running Windows 2000.
Anybody else have any problems like this.
I'd appreciate any insight.

Just got a really nice CD copy of Grateful Dead studio outtakes from the 1969
Aoxomoxoa sessions that might be of interest to some of you. These copies
kick the sh*t out of the versions circulating from those Unsurpassed Masters
bootleg CDs. These derive from a 3.75ips reel belonging to Sandy Troy with
two additional tracks supplied by a 7.5ips reel belonging to Alan Bershaw.
Sandy's reel has all the material that has circulated before and its likely
that many of the copies out there trace back to this reel. We *think* this
material derives from the original 8 track studio sessions (that were
abandoned in favor of using the first 16 track, which had just become
available in 1969.)
The two cuts from Alan's reel, Rosemary & Mountains Of The Moon, sound like
the same versions recorded for the album, but they seem to be only Garcia's
acoustic guitar and vocal tracks, without all the overdubs. They are
definitely not to be confused with the earlier mixes that were originally
released on the 1969 version of the album. These two tracks have not
circulated widely. They are both excellent quality and very beautiful!
I'll take a few B&Ps and a bunch of quick trades. Send a list or listlink for
trading. Among other things, I'm trying to track down all the 1969 Texas
International Pop Festival sets (all artists I don't yet have - most sets are
circulating) and looking to upgrade some Jefferson Airplane stuff and two old
Dead recordings I can only find on cassettes: 9/22/68 Del Mar and 4/15/69
Omaha. Also looking for any recordings of The Youngbloods.
Here's the details. Stu

If these derive from Sandy's old reel (before he even got his Tandberg!),
then there should be many copies with better geneology. Menke's. for
instance, or even my old reel (if I could find it). Pat Lee probably has a
better copy.
