From: "- -" <nasnet1@hotmail.com> Subject: About "Traitors" and "Taper Hunters" on DAT-Heads !!! Date: Wed, 26 Mar 2003 00:40:09 +0000 Hello, I wanted to report this story on point out on this subject. I posted a on DAT-Heads 10 days ago because I was looking for a taper for a show at BBKing's in New York City. I got this "lovely" reply from an "ex-taper": ______________________________________________ From : Solomon Baker <solbaker@earthlink.net> Objet : Security Will be tight Date : Sun, 16 Mar 2003 14:31:27 -0500 (EST) Nas, those of us in security will be looking forward to exposing and apprehending your stealth taper on March 25, 2003. Six of us are ex-tapers. We know exactly what to look for. The club holds only 500 people. We'll scrutinize each one. If you like Vonda Shepard or Sugarland so much, "why don't you visit a record store and make purchases?" John "Solomon" Shehan ********************************** And Today, date of the show, here he comes again. Too bad for him, I hadfound no tapers so he wasted his time trying to ruin taping. _____________________________________________ From : Solomon Baker <solbaker@earthlink.net> Subject : Tonight at BB Kings Date : Tue, 25 Mar 2003 15:30:08 -0500 (EST) Nas, we started admitting people 24 minutes ago. 12 of us are on the lookout for 1 taper. When we find him/her, we're going to take their microphones and plug then into a mic-preamp and flip the 12 volt phanthom power switch on. Have you tried using your mics after they were subjected to 12 volt phanthom power? We're going to repeat the routine for the 10 PM show also. Just wanted to let you know Nas, that we're thinking of you. The Shadow *********************************** Isn't it nice behaviour? Using DAT-Heads to expose tapers... Had you seen this before? Email me your stories, I'd be curious to read! Take care and long live Tapers! Have you tried using your mics after > they were subjected to 12 volt phanthom power? My mics use 48 volt phantom power, all that 12 volts will do is cause distortion and weak output. Oh, and New York State law says that while the club has the right to eject a taper (but must refund his ticket price to do so), if they take his equipment they must return it at the end of the show AND they're responsible for any damage done to it. Actually, it's up to the taper: his choice whether to leave (with refund) or let them hold his equipment (with responsibility). If I were going to the show (I don't live in NY any more), I'd take that as a challenge: to look as much like I'm taping as possible (while not actually having any equipment on me). I also wouldn't put up with any hassle, and invite them to call the police but suggest that assaulting me would be a serious mistake. On the other hand, posting other people's email isn't proper, either. Seth
