Date: Thu, 27 Mar 2003 10:48:10 -0500 Hi, I'm a newbie to the whole taping world, starting last summer with just a mini disc and a cheap ECM mic. I know, I know, how horrible, but I was new to the taping scene, and you gotta start somewhere. I've taped every show I've been to since then, and I love doing it. Just recently I bought some dynamic audio omni mics, which do a much better job than the ECM and I love them. I'm just a poor college student, working two jobs and trying to pay bills, so I don't see a DAT in my future anytime soon, or even better mics, but I do have hopes of one day getting a nomad so i can do some hard drive recording....it'd be better than a MD anyway, even if they do have some faults. I'm sure the MD has more. I recently stumbled across the DAT-head digest this winter and have been eagerly awaiting it daily ever since. All of you have tought me so much about taping, and I thank you all for that. When I read this about the BBKings show, it really upset me. I guess people just don't understand the heart that goes into taping. Anyway, I want to thank all of you for doing what you do and for all the information and help I've received from the digest and various other tapers. Thanks, and don't let idiots like this get you down or stop you from what you're doing. Ed PS: I taped GYBE last night in Detroit and from what I've listened to it so far, it sounds great. (minus the crowd noise in the quiet parts - stupid people who talk during concerts...grrr) ------------------------------ From: sean madigan Subject: Jim and Jennie and the Pinetops SHN B&P Date: Thu, 27 Mar 2003 08:17:55 -0800 (PST) Jim and Jennie and the Pinetops The Fire; Philly PA Source: AKG 393(70deg, -10db) > Da-P1 (-20db) Note: A few overs due to clapping. Would love to hear how she's sounding these days. Been a while! Also looking for recent Joe Jackson and Indigo Girls shows. And to the couple of folks on the list whom are owed tapes/cds, I am getting to them. Sorry for the delays. Life with a 7 month old can be overwhelming and certainly shifts priorities! Thanks for your patience. Dave BWT: 2 B&P for Neil Finn, Warfield 2/13/03 (AT 933 hypercards>Zefiro InBox>M1), front row lower loge, a bit right). DAT only, 60m just barely makes it as the show runs 122 mins. First 10 secs are a bit rough as he appeared without fanfare and my mics were not in position, but a decent tape overall. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Anyone's welcome to see what I put together but I warn you again, it've very simple. I'm no HTML wizard.
