So, I was wondering if anyone will be running any Schoeps setups for the following SCI shows and would kindly allow my friend to patch in... Richmond Asheville Raliegh This will be his first time not patching out of a soundboard so he might need a little assistance. Again, I have a M1 and plenty of battery power. So, any kind soul who would be willing to help out please email my friend, Brent, at brdavis2@vt.edu so you can set something up. Thanks a bunch. The reason for my selling is my friend that I was going with is having Visa problems and unfortunately has to return to Scotland until they're resolved. He already sold his ticket, so I only have mine to sell. I'm asking face value, $160 + shipping costs. If you're in Los Angeles, we can arrange to meet in person and make the exchange. I assume what you mean is that there is a blank portion of tape that has absolutely nothing recorded on it, and dat2wav is stopping before it gets to the written part. Here's a couple of ideas. First, you'll need to run dat2wav without the /rewind option. You want it to start right where you put it. If the recorded material is near the beginning of the tape, just run dat2wav over and over again. If you omit the /rewind option, it will move a little further on the tape every time. Eventually, it should pick up the recorded material. If the recorded material is farther into the tape (say five minutes). Use your portable/home DAT deck to move the tape forward to the right spot, rewind a little (very little), and then put it into the computer. Try the same technique again. If it still won't read the data (and I've had one or two tapes like that), then you may have to look for another mechanism to get the data into the computer. So far, I've only had to use a digital input once instead of using dat2wav. I would suggest checking it out a few times over the next few weeks as I am sure I will be getting a few more items to add... Also, I found out that there was an article in the September, 1978 issue of Audio magazine. If there is anyone out there who has a copy of this issue and could e-mail me a scan to include on the page, I would appreciate it. The URL for the web page for those of you who missed it is: http://www.computorney.com/nak Thanks again and enjoy... Mikey ------------------------------ From: "Basbeuk" Subject: unused deck Date: Tue, 08 Apr 2003 13:39:25 +0200 Hi all, For a few years now I have not used my Sony DTC-60ES DAT deck, and am planning to employ it again. Now I wonder after this long of a stand-still if I should be cleaning it and how I should go about doing this. Or could I just insert my cleaning tape, let it run for the required time and then happily ever after use my DAT tapes and deck? My deck has never been cleaned before other than with the cleaning tape quite regularly. Thanks for any information. ------------------------------ From: Daniel Raymond Subject: F/T: RHCP Manchester 3/11/03 & 3/12/03 Date: Tue, 8 Apr 2003 05:42:22 -0700 (PDT) Hello I have two excellent Red Hot Chili Peppers recordings from Manchester 2003 - Evening News Arena (03/11 & 03/12) that I would like to offer for trade: Paired AT831b > SONY M1 I can provide a setlist w/track times for each recording. I can only do CDR. I am looking for other Europe 2003 recordings (Paris, Glasgow, London, Rotterdam), or US/Canada/Japan 2000 shows. I saw a couple in the old archives (5/27 The Gorge and 8/16 Molson) that I am especially looking for. Thank you. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! CD Storage Information Date: Tue, 08 Apr 2003 10:19:37 -0400 As I feared, I have run out of space to house & display my cdr collection. Friends have suggested I switch to the cdr books, some have suggested purchasing filing cabinets with large cdr sleeves, and I too have researched how to best handle this problem. I am looking for an inexpensive way to house the most amount of disc for easy accessibility. Does anyone have any easy affordable solutions? Secondly, I am looking for a good copy or U2 from Point Depot in Dublin (12/27/89). I understand there is a great soundboard of this show floating around. Thanks in advance for your help. Wondering if anyone can make a recommendation on what software to use to transfer DAT from my Sony D7 to my hard drive via SB Live card with coax digital input. I'd like the transfer to be lossless or damn close, and I just have no idea how to go about getting it done. I'm thinking I'll have to plug into my sound card and press play, and that at this point is the extent of my working knowledge. I have Sound Forge and the software that came with the SB Live card. I haven't explored their capabilities. Any advice you could give me will be devoured hungrily. Thank you. - Dan __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Butterking ------------------------------ From: "Internet Address" Subject: Dumb PCM-M1 Question #1 Date: Tue, 8 Apr 2003 14:03:23 -0500 I just started using a PCM-M1 to record sound effects tracks for film use. I've been using small dual omni mics that work quite well So here's what I don't understand. Is it OK to record with the PCM-M1 in any position or is it best to keep the tape horizontal while recording. I've been recording with the PCM-M1 in my pocket and it seems to work OK so far - quite well in fact. Bill ------------------------------ From: Clark Guy Subject: RE: ISO: Battery box for "stealth" omni mics...or some suggestio Date: Tue, 8 Apr 2003 14:09:12 -0500 Hi, Mike! I've had excellent results using those RS mics with my Sharp 722 MD recorder. I had a pair of cheap headphones with a coax pair cord from which I cut the phones and to which I connected the mics. Even though the MD only puts out a few volts to power the mics, I get suprisingly good recordings when I "stealth" live classical performances, as well as making quickie recordings of rehearsals of my various musical groups. I have also in the past built amplifiers for this sort of Panasonic omni capsule using an instrumentation amplifier IC (Analog Devices AMP-02 if I remember correctly) and a balanced +/- 9volt (also +/- 12V) battery supply. I set the gain so that I got a good line level output from the combo. To minimize electrical noise pickup, I mounted the mic capsules on the PCB with the amplifier. I had pretty good results with this method (and the 9V transistor radio batteries last nearly forever!) There are plenty of circuit ideas on the web, if you know how to look. Hope this helps!!! Guy Clark <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> From: "Mike BB" Subject: ISO: Battery box for "stealth" omni mics...or some suggestions. Date: Mon, 7 Apr 2003 20:05:14 -0400 Howdy folks, I just picked up a pair of radio shack omni mini-mics to play around with and I'm having some problems pumping enough power into them so that I can get a nice noise free recording. I don't think I'll ever record concerts with them...I mostly got them to just walk around and record stuff. There's been so many times that I've wanted to record certain sounds where setting up my entire taping rig wouldn't be an option. They're just a fun thing to have. I'd only record analog so I could adjust my levels on my recording device. If anyone has a used battery box (I assume this is what I need) or suggestions on where to get one, or even make one (I'm no electronics wiz), I would really appreciate it. I only spent $25 on these things so I'm not looking to spend a lot of money. Thanks for any help! Mike BB ------------------------------ From: TheSchoolNerd@aol.com Subject: I Dig SHNs! More?
