Hey Heads,
I'm going to Florida for a few days R & R, Ft. Lauderdale, Ft Myers, and Sanibel
Island to be specific. You'd think I'd take a break from collecting, but we all
know it's an addiction. If any of you Floridians know of any cool CD collectors
shops in these areas, please clue me in.
Thanks,
Tom

Subject: resampling?

Hello all,
Now that I have a new computer, there is an intergrated sound card to go with it and it
has an SPDIF IN and OUT, both coaxial. I don't expect much for the quality of the
analog circuit, but I do wonder if this device, a SIS7012 soundchip (it also says
ALC650), does resampling of the incoming digital data or that it leaves it alone?
Maybe someone has more information on this. I did a lot of radio recording @32KHz
and I would like to transfer it as such to my computer, letting the resampling up to some
professional software to guarantee a better quality.
Greetings and thanks in advance.

First off, check out the link below and read about the stereo pair (also
check out the official spec sheets):
http://www.superlux.us/smalldiaphragm.html
I just picked up a pair of these on eBay for shits and giggles (how can't
you with a price like that?) and was wondering if anyone has had any
experience with Superlux mics (what a horrible name!). It looks like their
large diaphragm mics generally get good reviews but I think their smaller
condenser mics are pretty new. I'll be able to compare them to my Oktava
mics which I think will be good considering that they're both cheaper ($)
mics. I guess there's no way to know how these things are until they're out
"in the field" but I thought I'd ask anyway. If these things sound good, it
could be a budget taper's dream!...and the fact that they come with all the
extras, what mics offer that? I should have my pair next week sometime and
will report my findings here. Rock on!

Today (4/10) marks the 42nd anniversary of the first manned
spaceflight, a day I call "International Space Day." This day was
traditionally cursed, not celebrated, in the United States (for
reasons that are obvious if you know anything about the early
history of spaceflight), but NASA now marks it with a small
commendation which may repeat tomorrow morning at 9amET.
Today also marks the 22nd anniversary of the first Shuttle flight, an
event now bittersweet as that first shuttle, the Columbia, was
destroyed early this year.
And today two years ago, the International Space Station first
activated its Ku-Band antenna system, which enables live TV
coverage from the station (for us) as well as Internet and telephone
service for the astronauts on the station.
Finally, today (this year) marks a sad ending in commercial air
travel: both British and French air authorities have announced they
will cancel all supersonic Concorde flights, because their super-
pricey travel has too few customers to continue the program. As
there are no new supersonic commercial planes currently in
development, I think it's safe to say there will be no more
supersonic transport for at least 25 years.
Someday a rich grandfather will tell his kids, "When I was young,
we could cross the Atlantic in under 4 hours. But now, in the 21st
century, it takes twice as long."

hi,
Does anybody have a complete clone of this REM show ?
I have a 48kHz 44min snippet "FOB Cassette" clone of
this show - which amounts to side 1, does anybody have
a complete version of it or side 2 ? There is a commercial
bootleg of it knocking about in worse quality so it
does exist somewhere.
