Great unit: I have cloned several DVD from my VHS, and came out great. Have a question if any here (some vendors?) can help me: I tried to copy some VHS recorded in NTSC (have some great rare recordings, also Grateful Dead taken from american TV, and a WONDERFUL PINK FLOYD recorded in 1970 in San Francisco TV studio , among the rest) As you know , copy VHS NTSC to VHS PAL was impossible , at least to have a very expensive VHS recorder multistandard (few years ago costed about Euro 1800), but at least Iwith my (PAL) Panasonic Super-VHS Stereo HIFI I can play (and see) NTSC So I tried to see what happened copy to DVD: Well, it works! At least at 95%. Infact while I see perfectly the NTSC VHS in TV monitor, after I see the result in DVD just recorded , at below of the TV screen images there's a white/multicoloroud line (let's say the 95% of image is perfect, and just a short part of the the screens is afflicted of that defective) I connected my Panasonic SuperVHS > DVDR Panasonic, with composite cable + audio cables I suspect that probably the cable , in USA stadards, have some connection that in my cable is not , so the NTSC signal (out) have some problem with PAL connection(IN) Any tips? Well Jason at Sonicsense recently hooked me up with a new Dap1 and all the goodies. Plus answered patiently all my newbie questions that followed. So that would be my suggestion. Now I just need to figure out how to transfer so I would not have to farm the dats out, like Friday nights killer David nelson band here Insane diego,t he best dead like show and vibe I have seen in years. They will be in the Denver area next weekend for those interested. In fact please, jason go tape them. I have not kept up on OS X software of late. Google News turned up slightly more info on this... Looks like cdparanoia still hasn't been ported, but libparanoia has: Both cdda2wav (2.0 and up) and cdrdao (1.1.6 and up) have a "paranoia" mode using cdparanoia-III-alpha9.8 (the latest stable release). See http://fink.sf.net/ for an easy way to install both on any OSX-equipped Mac. For example: $ cdrdao read-cd --driver generic-mmc --paranoia-mode 3 cdimage.toc Cdrdao version 1.1.7 - (C) Andreas Mueller SCSI interface library - (C) Joerg Schilling Paranoia DAE library - (C) Monty That's what works with my slot-loading iMac: "paranoia-mode 3" is the default, but I put it onto the command-line for illustration. See "man cdrdao" for explanation of the other options. But cdrdao rips a single datafile for the whole cd, so it might not suit the OP's needs. The cdda2wav program rips to multiple WAV files - for example: $ cdda2wav -D IOCompactDiscServices -paranoia -paraopts retries=3 -l 16 -HB test That creates test_01.wav, test_02.wav, etc. Note that the Fink "stable" version of cdda2wav is too old, and doesn't have libparanoia. Use the Fink "unstable", or wait for cdda2wav 2.0 to move into "stable." For both cdrdao and cdda2wav, run the command *before* inserting the cd - otherwise the OS will have already mounted the disc, and cdrdao/cdda2wav won't be able to lock the driver. If the command-line is too intimidating, the same Google thread cited above also linked to http://homepage.mac.com/rnc/ for MissingMediaBurner - a VCD imaging program. Depending on the OP's needs, it might be a reasonable substitute for both EAC and CDRWin, since it includes and uses cdrecord, cdrdao, and cdda2wav, and the "Rip Disk" tab has a "paranoia" checkbox. I couldn't use MMB to rip a test CD on my ibook - something about the options didn't agree with my setup. I suspect the author of MMB has only tested with SuperDrive-equipped Macs. YMMV, and MMB seems to be an AppleScriptStudio app, so it'd be easy enough to modify (but at that point, again, the command-line starts to look better and better). Sorry for the lack of DAT content, but I hope it's helpful to the OP (and other Mac OSX users). -- Mike ------------------------------ From: jeff travitz Subject: BROMBERG TRADES Date: Sun, 13 Apr 2003 17:23:20 -0400 Have schoeps tapes of David Bromberg from Williamstown, Nj (Tri Show), and Big band shows from Harrisburg & Wilmington, Del. Before I go the Ebay route I thought I'd offer it here. Casio DA-7 portable DAT -2x analog RCA line in -2x analog RCA line out -S/PDIF coax digital in and out -2x mic in 1/4 jacks The deck is in good condition and has been carried around in a Doskocil hardshell plastic padded case the entire time I've owned it. Includes internal battery and AC power cable and adapter. The internal battery holds a minimal charge. This deck was used only as a field recording deck, not as a playback deck. I will include the hardshell case with the deck and accessories, along with an Eco Charge 6V battery and charger. I have not used this deck in several months and everything is taking up valuable space in my closet, so it's time for it to go to a new home. I will guarantee the deck not to be DOA as well. Looking for $500 for everything including shipping. If interested please respond to me directly. Thanks, Dirk ------------------------------ From: DATtrader Subject: Beck's taping policy?
