Well, this thing is new to me, i think is similar to FAT32, and the limit is
for when you tranfer the file to the PC, dont have any problems when you
play back the file or when edit somethin on it.
> eagerly awating your test results. you were recording a control to compare
it to, right? oh yeah, I forgot, 100% of all > people who say the nomad
records flawlessly have never actually tested the waveform.
i dont have the right "machines" to do this, i can't do this test things,
but the "sounds good to me" works for the majorty of the list, i think much
people in this list have very good ear and dont hear any problems with the
recordings.
> (sorry to get increasingly sarcastic, but getting tired of the "it sounds
good to me" argument. If its working for you, > thats great, but dont say it
is 'more relaible than/as reliable as DAT' if youre not actualy testing
it...)
sarcastic? mmmm, i dont care, but the DAT machines work better for me, but
are a expensives, and when you have limits in the money, well the JB3 is a
better option much better than the minidisc, i think !!....
sorry for this comments, but i'm mexican and i have the tendencie to fight
!, sorry is a joke.

"STABLE", is the right word to explain this situation.

Sorry for the cross post.
Wondering if anyone can help w/ this. Wondering about the correct dates that
Liz Phair played here in '93 and '94.
From what I've been able to gather, she played the Great American Music Hall
on 12/11/93 ("Exile in..." tour) and also the Warfield on 4/9/95 ("Whip
Smart" tour). Did she also play the Warfield on 3/18/94 as well?
Thanks in advance,
Jim

sorry for the cross post action but I wanted to let
California datheads know about the upcoming shows by
Joe Firstman. He is playing at the Mint in Los Angeles
on Tuesday the 22nd and in northern California at:
the Sweetwater in Mill Valley on Thursday the 24th
fans of Jason Mraz, John Mayer, David Gray should find
much to enjoy with his music.
I am told he is taper friendly, not sure how that will
apply in venues as small as these but will find out.

I too observed that Sony's latest DAT-Repair policies are very
unfavorable, both on price and as far as likelyhood of fixing your
deck. They seem to favor letting a semi-experienced tech replace
the whole mechanism, whether that is needed or not.
Not wanting to pay hundreds of dollars to get my D8 to track
better, I gave it to Mark at FET Electronics in Van Nuys. He
actually fixed the deck quickly, the first time, for a flat rate of about
$150. (More extensive repairs may cost more).
Of course, FET is associated with the DAT Store so I may have a
vested interest in mentioning them, but honestly, I was just happy
to get my deck fixed with minimal problems.
Mark also specializes in fixing Panasonic studio DAT machines.

Though you can hear this tone acoustically, it normally will not be
recorded on your tape unless:
1. You have poor grounding in your cables, especially if you are
going through a number of adaptors.
2. You have the mic input on high sensitivity.
So if you can hear the tone through headphones while you're
setting up, check for loose connections in your cables.

I taped this excellent show at USC's Bovard Auditorium in Los Angeles this
Wednesday night with Core Sound Binaurals running to my D8 and have it
shn'ed and ready for circulation. He had Danilo Perez on piano, Brian Blade
on drums, and John Patitucci on bass. It was an excellent show, running
around 1:30 and closing with footprints. If anyone has a server they'd like
me to upload it to I'm more than willing and am also able to do B&P's for
anyone interested (1 disc SHN, 2 audio). Please reply off-list.

I haven’t seen anyone mention this show, and it may be faux-pas to do so on
this list, but I’m hoping someone out there is in the Chicago area and can
record an FM broadcast of a Tom Petty show Saturday, April 19, 2003.
The show is at the Vic Theatre, just off Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, being
broadcast by WXRT (93.1 fm) wxrt.com
Live broadcast of the fourth and final show is TONIGHT at 8:15pm, I’m too
far out of Chicago to pull the signal, I’m hoping someone else out there
can. I recorded Thursday night.
I’d take a frickin’ cassette recording off the broadcast if that’s the best
someone can do… *anything!*
