I friend just turned me on to this group. I would love to thank him
with some hq, possibly sbd live material from these guys, especially
their Bennington, VT show. I have lots of crispy DAT and CD music to
choose from. Please share if you have some.

Mitchell and others who are migrating material to CDR and DVD-R:
It's the ONLY logical thing to do. Yes, there is a play button on DAT decks, but it
might as well be marked "try your luck" or "wear out your heads/transport needlessly."
(Not to mention ever using the rewind/ffwd frivolously. Who wants to pay the bill?)
Suggesting that DAT is a good playback and archival medium is goofy. Our experience is
that it's great for mastering, but after that get the data onto a less voliatile medium
QUICK! DAT is expensive, rapidly becoming completely obsolete, and just this side of
totally unreliable as an entertainment playback medium. C'mon. So I'm with Mexminute;
get your material off of DAT tapes ASAP, and migrate it into the trade pool.

Speaking of Dave & Tim...
I saw Tim Reynolds play solo on TV perhaps a year ago, and found
his style quite advanced. Does anyone have a good tape of a solo
show they'd like to share?
thank you!

According to Pollstar the Flaming Lips are playing for a WXRT Radio show
tomorrow. Is this interview, live performance in the studio or a live show?

Anyone taping this? I'd love to get a copy if you do tape it. Thanks!

IMHO, this hits it right on the head. If you want to post
tour dates (or links to tour dates) you're hoping to get
people to tape, right? Well, I'm sure everyone here has
more than enough opportunities to tape things they've never
heard of - you're going to have to compel them to get any
action. If you don't, you're just dropping a big turd in
the middle of the digest that *everyone* is just going to
scroll over - and some will be pissed that they had to.

Hello, I'm trying to find a trader who I was communicating with for
about 2 months until he suddenly stopped replying on January 24th. I've
sent repeated emails to him, asking for just an acknowledgment he's
still alive, but no luck.
We were getting along fine and I assume he's not ignoring me, so I'm
emailing all the trading lists I know of in the hope that either he will
see this or someone else that knows how to contact him does. If anyone
can help me at all, I'd greatly appreciate it. Here's the email he was
using the last time I heard from him.

Yup, it's me again, Ben is another trader I'm trying to get ahold of.
We first traded almost 4 years ago and have kept in contact since then,
but he's become progressively harder to get replies from.
He was MIA for quite awhile, popped up suddenly, disappeared again for
over a year, emailed me from out of the blue last fall, and now hasn't
responded to my messages since December 17th.
If anyone can help me locate him, please contact me. Ben's email has
always been arizona_bay@hotmail.com, he's gone by Cesaro and and
Slobbysausage on AIM, and his web page is at http://liveconcerts.cjb.net
Thanks

My post wasn't even remotely nasty. I guess I'm in the minority on the lack of cd transfer. Please excuse my lack of PC. Thanks for pointing out that my Savannah offer was useless. I politely withdraw it. Sorry to all the peole who wanted it. This list has been sucking wind for a while now so I'll be out........

I have a Sony PCM-2600 for sale. This has been my "extra" DAT player for a
few years. Very light use. Not many DAT copies made with this and not too
many CD transfers either. I am pretty sure I have the original box. Owner's
manual and modified remote (modification allows for display of errors on A
and B heads > which are extremely low by the way) included. 16 bit D>A, XLR
in/outs, AES and Coax digital in and out. 48, 44.1 and 32 setting including
long play. Super Bit Mapping option on analog in. Also works well as a DAC
if you have an older CD player with digital out sourcing through. I'd like
$600 which is roughly 1/3 the retail price. I will pay shipping via Federal
Express ground service with insurance to the lower 48.
This deck is in nice shape and plays great. Please Email me if you may be
interested.
Thanks for reading this.
Bob
