From: "Cap Spaulding" <capspaulding@hotmail.com> Subject: IN SEARCH OF SKIP JAMES Date: Tue, 06 May 2003 13:34:06 -0700 This legendary Delta bluesman with the ghostly voice was widely seen and recorded when he was "re-discovered" in the 1960s. If anyone has tapes of unreleased performances I would like to correspond with you. From: "Barnes, Barry" <barry@huizenga.nova.edu> Subject: DVD and Track IDs: Update Date: Tue, 6 May 2003 17:23:19 -0400 A couple of weeks ago I asked if it was typical of DVD players to not pass track IDs to the digital output when playing CDs. The Daewoo combo DVD/VHS player I bought did not, and the comments I received from others indicated this was common. Well, I returned the Daewoo model and bought a Toshiba combo player (SD-V390). I was pleased to find that it does pass track IDs, although all digital output is at 48khz, even for CDs!! So now you know! From: DATtrader <dattrader@comcast.net> Subject: Summary: Stealthing at 9:30 Club Date: Tue, 06 May 2003 18:04:31 -0400 First, thank you to everyone who responded with their taping experiences at the 9:30 Club in DC. As for me, I was not patted down. Although security said if you had baggy clothes, you would be searched. They also pointed out that no audio or video recording were allowed. Since I wasn't certain if I was going to be patted down or not, I crotched my gear in and set up from the balcony. The reason being was that several people had said security regularly checks the bathroom stalls for whatever reason...probably someone rolling a joint while sitting on the shitter. Security also stands in these perches that are above the crowd up front on each side of the stage looking down at the floor and the balcony. In my opinion, they are your biggest worries as they can see almost anything from there, i.e. blue backlight from your DAT recorder, which could make them suspicious. Other than that, taping there was like any other club. If you're discreet about what you're doing, you'll be fine. Dt
From: "Patrick Mincey" <patrickmincey@hotmail.com> Subject: Looking to Unload Extra Dats Date: Tue, 06 May 2003 22:12:13 +0000 I've got a slew of dats I don't have space for anymore and just don't listen to. Most are SCI '97--'99. Nothing wrong with them, all sound fine but now that I've archived them I'm looking to unload. If you might be interested please email me off the list. I can get you more info and we'll work something out. I mentioned that I used a minidisc to record their show back in November 2001 at the Cinerama Theatre in Seattle. They played music along with a silent film of underwater photography. It was mucho good. anyway...they said they wanted a copy of my recording. I told them I would but my recording aint the greatest. so I'm trying to find a copy of: Yo La Tengo 11-07-01 Cinerama Theater, Seattle I know that at least one person has the source of roughly: AT853>b.b.>dat so if you can help me get a better copy to send them...let me know. From: Michael Goldberg <mike@partycentralaz.com> Subject: FS: Sony D7 + Extras. Date: Wed, 07 May 2003 07:30:23 -0700 I am selling my D7. it is in awesome condition. It has been modified to power stealth mics. I have NEVER had a problem with it. Included with the deck is the soft case. A dual XLR Eco-Charge battery system, so you can power 2 D7/D8 or a deck and a SBM1. The battery comes with the intelligent charger and has been used very very little. This also comes with a digital 7 pin I/O cable. This was an actual Sony cable that was modified so the 7 pins have the full housing and not just pins stuck in a glob of silicone. I wanted to post this here before I went to Ebay, so let me know if you are interested. I want $350 + shipping and I will take Paypal. Let me know if you are interested Mike "BD" Goldberg mike@partycentralaz.com
