Elliott is OK with taping, but you might want to see what his tour
manager has to say. The last time I recorded Elliott, his tour manager
wouldn't allow me to setup a stand, but had no problem with me recording
the show, so I just had to get real creative with my microphones.
Needless to say it wasn't the best recording in the world.

Hola one and all!
Just wondering like some of us do, if anyone would
know of any extras to The Dead at Red Rocks in July.
I know it's a lot but we need two for each day.
Thanks,

wondering how long they REALLY last on full charge.
wondering for bonnaroo. I have two 6 volts for dap1
and two 12 volts for my ad1000. I use the ad1000 to
power my 480's if that matters. for the six volts
I've been told 5-6 hours. in louisville I ran my deck
for the whole show and then ran it to clone the show
after off one battery. so that was over five hours.
have no idea about the 12 volts. anyone?? I will be
able to charge at bonnaroo as we have a rv. but it
looks like I'll be rolling tape from 3 in the
afternoon till four or more in the morning(hopefully)Gordon

I use an eVest (version 2.0 IIRC) with a D100 and SX-M2. It would easily
accomodate another piece such as an SBM-1, or a larger unit like a
Mini-me, I believe.

Hello,
After slightly chewing a tape, my Sony 55ES now shows the 'caution'
indicator when a tape is inserted. I cannot play, rewind, or fast
forward the tape. Even eject does not always work....
What does it mean ? Is this a serious problem? Can I fix it myself ?
This is very urgent.
Thanks

Subject: Turin Brakes US dates
Date: Sat, 24 May 2003 10:49:44 +0200
Hi again,
one of my favorite bands is doing a short acoustic tour as a three-piece:
14.06.2003 LA / Troubador
16.06.2003 Seattle / Chop Suey
17.06.2003 San Francisco / Slims
19.06.2003 Philadelphia / Khyber
20.06.2003 New York / Bowery
They're also opening for David Gray on the second leg of his US tour (July
17 -August 8). Full band I assume.
All the dates are on www.turinbrakes.com as well.
Turin Brakes are taper-friendly, but their policy is unofficial. You have to
speak to leadman Olly Knights about it. Be polite about everything, have
some records signed, offer a copy (Olly will want one!) etc. The usual
procedure I guess. I managed to get board feeds at the two shows I've
attended so far, so yes, it works. However, you may run into problems with
the band's tourmanager (Pete). Make sure you have the band and their
soundman (most likely a guy named Yogi) on your side, and try to avoid Pete.
Good luck!
Christian

Subject: I overloaded my DPA 4060's...
Date: Sat, 24 May 2003 10:49:33 +0200
Hey folks,
here's a little bit of a problem: On friday, I was at the *awesome* Ben
Harper show in Berlin, first row, less than a meter from the PA, running my
new DPA 4060's > DPA MPS 6020 p/s > RCA's > Sony SBM1 > Sony D100. Now, from
what I had heard from people not only on this list, the 4060's should not
clip - even when used in those extreme head-in-stack type situations,
because their maximum SPL of 134 dB would never be achieved in a concert
setting in the first place. However, the low-end in my recording in fact
came out distorted!
The tape is still very listenable, actually it's pretty much smokin'... But:
I would really like to know why this happened and what to do about it. I
assume it's not brickwalling, because I was going line-in, of course. If
it's really because of the mics, I guess a bass roll-off wouldn't help
either. Do I have to move on to the DPA 4061's?
Any comments appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Christian
