Date: Sat, 14 Jun 2003 19:22:28 -0500 I bought an M-1 used from a fellow dathead and I'm wondering if I got ripped. Are these things supposed to make a buzzing noise when they are opened? A pretty loud buzzing noise? Actually, it doesn't pop open, I have to open it manually, but it makes quite a bit of buzzing while "cycling up". It is also kind of noisy when fast forwarding and rewinding. Does anyone else's older units do this? It seems to play tapes fine, and was supposedly just serviced by pro-digital about six months back, but I'm kind of getting a weird vibe about this machine. Feel free to e-mail me off list. Tape sounds great CSB>D7 10ft = from stage. Looking for other Maria McKee shows from this tour and past = tours. (Already have the Galaxy and Dingwall's shows from '98.) If you haven't = seen Maria live, get out while you still can, she is amazing live! Thanks, Rich ------------------------------ From: Dave-fortyacrerock Subject: FS: 130 master > 3rd gen cassettes Date: Sun, 15 Jun 2003 10:09:40 -0700 (PDT) I don't want to just just toss these, theres alot of gems in here....Mostly masters from cds and audience recordings that are rare amongst the traders community! I have transfered the ones I wanted to cdr and now I no longer need them. Some titles are Marshall Tucker/Grateful Dead/Jerry Garcia Band/ Mahogany rush/Cheech + Chong...Just a Bunch of different stuff. Nothing surpasses 3rd gen, Lots of masters. I want $85 for them and Ill tell you right now that the tapes are all in Great shape and consist of Mostly TDK SA/MA's and Maxell XLII's/XLIIS's. I don't know what postage will be on this. I'll even throw in a Case Logic 120 Case carrier with a shoulder strap. Don't pass this up! I'm sure you will be knocked out by what you see in here. Theres afew factory ones in here as well. Don't ask me for a list cause theres way to many to list! Thanks PS Any one want to trade 2003 Mule or any Dead? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Will I ever get the actual stereo mix (maybe on a pair of aux outs)? Or is it usually/always a mono mix? Usually 1/4" T/R/S? Balanced? Thanks... (someday, I'll have something to trade/offer :o) ------------------------------ From: Dave C Subject: FOB? Date: Sun, 15 Jun 2003 10:24:36 -0700 When taping FOB is prohibited, is it (usually) because the house/band don't want mic stands in people's sightline? Is it generally OK, then, to tape with binaurals or some other body-attached mics that don't get in the way? Or are they trying to affect the quality of the tape to make them less attractive to sellers/bootleggers? Thanks... ------------------------------ From: "David Thomas" Subject: Just 1 of me/Digest problems Reply-To: "David Thomas" Date: Sun, 15 Jun 2003 13:09:26 -0400 Living with the name Dave Thomas is a pain for many reasons. Besides the obvious Wendy's jokes there are a lot of us. I'm not the Dave Thomas, Mike mentioned in his post who taped U2 etc. I have taped a lot of S. Florida gigs and some hard to get into shows. I'm now in Chicago and learning the venues/security/accessibility/etc. But I'm sure I'll have many more shows to trade in the future. As for why DAT-heads wouldn't take my emails after so long a time as a member (since 1997) I don't know. I sent repeated inquiries to the help email as well. And got no response.
