Just crotch it as usual, maybe wear a belt and put lots of decoys in your pockets. The primary purpose of wands is to discourage you from bringing anything in in the first place and the main job of security is to catch anything blatant and keep the crowd moving thru the doors. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? From: "Gregory Morgan" <cardinalchunder@hotmail.com> Subject: RE: TIPS FOR GETTING PAST A METAL DETECTOR... Date: Thu, 03 Jul 2003 12:16:09 -0700 I would try filling my pockets with metal objects and try to hit the door during the last minute rush to get in. (ie left pocket=keys and cell phone & right pocket= $12 in change.) Yes, you will definitely ring the metal detector, but as soon as the guards see the metal objects and a long line of angry people waiting to get in, you may be able to get through. -Gregory _________________________________________________________________ STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

From: "Eric Shewack" <eric@ptdprolog.net> Subject: Anybody taping Sleater-Kinney at Hershey? Date: Thu, 3 Jul 2003 19:34:15 -0400 I was just wondering if anyone else plans on taping this show. I'm hoping to, but I have bad seats so I don't know how good it's going to come out. They're opening for Pearl Jam, who's set I'm not taping because they release soundboards anyway. Please let me know if you are taping... Thanks.

From: "Wayne Ellis" <we1@jennic.com> Subject: Question: Nirvana The Moon - New Haven, CT - 9/26/91 Reply-To: <we1@jennic.com> Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2003 14:13:38 +0100 Hi, Does anybody have a copy of this DAT ? I have a copy labelled Sony WM-D6:ANA(M)->D(4)@32kHz. This is a really good sounding show but mine has a dropout at the very end of Sunbeam, and at 6mins in on the tape in 'Here She Comes Now', this one is a bit ugly - does anybody have cleaner copy of this floating around or is this it ? thanks Wayne
From: DAVEDARC@aol.com Subject: Jerry Joseph Bonnaroo Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2003 11:12:26 EDT Hi all, Was wondering if anyone has Jery Joseph and the Jackmormons from Bonnaroo. Their set was one of the highlights for me, and would really like to hear it again. Have other JJJ shows to trade along with 2500+ hours of shows. Please respond off list. Cheers!! Dave
From: "lewis t. Fitch" <pfitch@mindspring.com> Subject: PCM-M-1 DC requirements. Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2003 14:13:56 -0400 Gentlemen, one accurate measurement is worth a thousand opinions, including mine. I put a variac on the Sony 4.5 volt supply, and reduced the voltage until the PCM-M-1 became unhappy. This occurred at a measured voltage of 4.28volts dc, which indicates to me that there is internal regulation, since the internal batteries only provide about 2.5 volt or so. That would also indicate that while three fresh alkaline C cells would run it fine, they would only do so until their terminal voltages were 1.42 V, giving nothing like the rated ampere hours. I stand partially corrected in that respect. 4 Ni-Mh cells would just about do their ratings, lasting to below 1.1 volt each, as would 4 Alkalines. (these would all be systems plugged into the external supply terminal.) The device that was being offered here by nemeng.com contains an internal regulator, and is consequently immune to falling battery voltage (and also battery overvoltage, though the excess goes out as heat) down to about 6v, so 6 cells would suffice.
From: "john e. bogus" <mallness@surfbest.net> Subject: BWT Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2003 14:18:20 -0400 As promised, here's a nice little BWT....this is offered with the thought in mind that some people on this list seem to get annoyed with the small fact that not everyone here happens to like the same kind of music....issue has been taken with postings related to bands that are a "minority interest", and therefore this BTW is intended to hopefully open the minds of some of you and hopefully turn you on to something cool that you haven't heard before. As promised, this is something that is certainly obscure, heavy, and stealthed: Agony Column- Gabe's Oasis, Iowa City, IA 10/22/90 mini PZM's > analog D6 (line in), taped from FOB left side, 1/2 way between the sbd and stage. 40 minutes, "A-" quality. Copies will be analog cassette master > CD (gasp....yes, I've been messing around with some cassette > CD transfers, and no, I still don't have a soundcard with a digital input yet) Ok, so why is this worthwhile? This TX band put out two really good albums around 1989-90 (God, Guns, And Guts in 1989 and Brave Words And Bloody Knuckles around 1990-1) and only toured once (to my knowledge).....take one part Slayer, one part AC/DC, and one part TX style southern stomp, mix throughly in your favorite moshpit, and you get a charged, high-energy performance containing such memorable songs as No Time To Kill, 4 X 4, Angel Of Def, God, Guns, And Guts, and a great cover of the Mountain classic Mississippi Queen. An excellent show in spite of being faced with an extremely hostile audience, who were all there (I was probably the only person in the audience there to see Agony Column as well as the headline act) to only see the Famous Punk Rock Headliner.....oh yes, the BWT, as offered, also happens to include the encores of the Famous Punk Rock Headliner, which were on the other side of the same cassette (the main portion of the Famous Punk Rock Headliner's set got ripped off from me sometime around 1992-3, sorry), so the total running time of the BWT is about 55 minutes long. I've never seen any other tapes of this band circulating, and no one has ever asked me for this one in trade, so this one is completely uncirculated, yet is very much so worth having in your collection! So how do you get this wonderful BWT? First, I award one copy each to the following, who engaged in the debate over posting items related to bands of "minority interest": First up is our friend Keith Bode.....Keith, you've really outdone yourself in providing us with some truly memorable quotes such as "I also feel strongly that discussion should be of events where taping is permitted, and stzted so. I have beat that to death, and geerally do not mention my feelings on list at all" (digest #719), followed by "That has to be about the most thoughtless, selfish comment, I have read on a list." and "sounds like an idea some self absorbed 7 year old would have." (in digest #726), and "I'm also not trying to tell anyone to do what i like." (digest #786). Next up is Michael Miller for not only giving us such gems as "dipshit band tour dates" and "But to post 100 lines of tour dates for some band that maybe three people care about is just fucking rude." (digest #721), but for having the guts to apologize for his comments as well (digest #722). Gentlemen, if you would care to send me your mailing address, I'll send you a nice Agony Column CD, gratis. As for anyone else, let's offer 3 copies, one each for "all three people on the list that care about this stuff".......as usual, this will involve no B's, no P's, just be the LAST 3 people to reply with a mailing address before digest #790 hits my inbox.....any additional requests will be offered as a B&P.....hopefully this will get a few people to open their minds and check out something new and different..... Yours Truly, john e. bogus
From: "john e. bogus" <mallness@surfbest.net> Subject: The Hidden Hand / European Wino tapers Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2003 14:19:48 -0400 Anyone planning on taping The Hidden Hand on their upcoming European tour? This is Wino's latest band (-ex Spirit Caravan, The Obsessed, and St. Vitus), and is easily his greatest effort yet! Excellent old-school metal, taping is allowed in any way, shape, or form. I have a decent amount of Wino-related material to trade, including several recent HH shows. The list of dates can be found here: http://www.efa-medien.de/index.php?content=http://www.efa-medien.de/katalog/ interpret.php3?SInterpret=HIDDEN%20HAND%2C%20THE BWT: ONE copy only, absolutely free, no B's and no P needed.....the LAST person to respond with "HHBWT" in the subject line before digest #790 hits my inbox gets one genuine 48 khz DAT tape with two excellent Hidden Hand shows: 6/13/03 Velvet Lounge, Washington DC (60 minutes, includes the soundcheck) & 6/24/03 The Ottobar, Baltimore, MD (50 minutes). Both shows are "A" quality, taped with Nak 300's > D7 (line in) from FOB center, straight off the master tapes. Thanks for the posting, john e. bogus
From: "john e. bogus" <mallness@surfbest.net> Subject: Atomic Bitchwax / European tapers Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2003 14:19:53 -0400 Another excellent band touring Europe that is well worth taping is Atomic Bitchwax.....this is a side project from the guitarist of Monster Magnet....I'd compare them to Robin Trower or Cream. I've been told that they DO allow taping, but have been unable to confirm this....the list of tourdates can be found here: http://bitchwax.cjb.net/ Note that they play their only current US show tonight (July 4th) in NJ.....I was gonna go tape this show myself, but am currently too busy this weekend trying to get my house ready to sell....any NJ tapers that can make this one at the last minute? BWT again: Atomic Bitchwax- 9/10/99 The Brighton Bar, Long Branch, NJ....CD of unknown source and generation, "B+" quality (sounds great except the taper was probably under the PA and too close to the stage, can't hear the vocals). ONE copy to the LAST person to respond with "ABBWT" as the subject line before digest #790 hits my inbox....as usual, this is absolutely free, no B's and no P needed. Thanks again for yet another posting, john e. bogus
