I was really sorry to miss this concert and wondered whether any subscribers
taped it? It would be really nice to hear a recording. Yours hopefully!
Ian

Hi everyone - this is my first post to the DAT Heads mailing list - please
be kind, I am very wet around the ears and the first 10 posts I make will
most likely be very basic, whilst I try and comprehend all that is involved
in this wonderful medium of live recordings.
I would love to get involved in the live music trading scene. Not sure if I
should go for the ‘cheaper’ option of Minidisc Recording or pay the extra
money and get a DAT Recorder.
90% of the time, I would be hoping to trade for shows and simply listening
to DATs; 10% (when possible) will be recording live shows - this percentage
would then increase once I get comfortable (and more hooked) with doing so.
In your opinion (I won’t hold anyone to anything, but do value reposnses),
what is the more popular format for recording / trading (MD or DAT)?
I believe it is much easier to transfer a DAT recording ONTO a computer,
than it is to do so from MD – is this correct?
Do you think buying a reconditioned DAT Recorder is a good idea, or are
there too many things that could be wrong with it that risk the cheaper
outlay, to that of a brand new one?
People have told me that I should stick with MD as DAT Recorders are soon to
be outdated by better, cheaper methods of recording (Hard Disk recording).
True / False?
For playback alone, are there such things as just DAT players (not
recorders)? Or would it be best that I invest in a good MD Player aswell
and transfer music from computer (once it has been put on there from DAT)
onto the MD (NetMD, for example)? I still want portable music (compact,
smaller than a discman) to enjoy all the music.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Kindest regards and thanks for reading,
Adam (in Australia)
