Hi my name is Justin. I am getting started in DAT trading and I would love
to get a hold of some shows to help me get started. I am mainly interested
in Audioslave and RATM. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks,
Justin

Hey there.
Taped opening day of Lollapalooza, Tornado and all. Only time I'ver ever been
scared for my life at a concert.
The delay made me miss the first two songs of QOTSA. Otherwise tapes of them
Incubus, Audioslave and Jane's are all pretty decent with CSC and D8 taped dead
center about 10 rows behind sbd.
Anyone else tape that day?
I'd love to hear other source since there was a fair amount of wind (not too
noticeable on my tapes, and not too frequent. i'm gonna try to clean up the
tapes with some new software I downloaded)and crowd (only bad during incubus,
screaming girls etc.)
All the sets were shortened because of the delay. Jane's played a measily 55
minutes.
Sound was f'ed up many times. With opening song by Audioslave missing vocals
early on and 1st Jane's song "stop" without any guitars whatsoever. Pretty sad
for one of the most memorable Alt rock guitar riffs of all time.
Anyway good luck taping the rest of the tour.
Dave

MD is lossy; dat is better. (Higher resolution than 16 bits, and
higher speeds than 44.1/48 kHz are even better.)

True; but MD will be just as outdated.

Does anyone have an ac adapter (power supply) for the
Tascam DAP-1 that they would be willing to part with?
If so, please contact me directly.
Thanks.

it's very hard to try & pigeon hole their "sound", but this band (to me) are
the second coming of PINK FLOYD with hints of RUSH thrown in,
and the songwriting is on the "genius" level of PETE TOWNSHEND/NEIL YOUNG (2
of my favorite songwriters, of which PT's Steven Wilson is now a 3rd!)
anyone that tapes a show & wants to trade it just drop me a line, thanks,

Time to get rid of some DATs. This batch is mostly Grateful Dead, from

Folks,
I've got a taper ticket for the Phish show Thursday night in Mountain View,
CA; am I going to have any trouble getting a laptop into the show, ie should
I go with DAT instead? Am not sure if the band or the venue has any
restrictions in this regard. Thanks in advance!

Subject: newbie - microphone selection help...
Date: Tue, 8 Jul 2003 07:01:45 -0700 (PDT)
Ok... This is my first post here...
I just ordered a creative nomad jukebox 3 (20gb model)
which I would like to use to record shows.
My main question is which mic should I get. And
yeah... I know there is no "right" answer. But I'd
just like to hear some other thoughts.
My price range is under $300.
I plan to tape mostly stealth... And mostly loud
bands in small-medium sized venues. Not many (if any)
small or acoustic shows. And I will be taping for a
variety of spots/conditions. Near, far, left, right,
balcony, crowd, etc...
From what I have read Cardioid mics are the way to go
for these situations.
But Binaural mics seem to be more popular.
The only significant advantage binaural mics have
(that I can find) is a better sense of "hall effects"
-- Which imho would only be useful if you have a
fairly quiet and "acoustically happy" (there has to be
a better word for this) room. Also binaural mics seem
to require you to be somewhere near the sound for
proper effect. I have a feeling binaural mics used on
the side of a room or back of a room might sound
funny.
One fear of the cardioid mics I have is it being TOO
directional. If I have the mics mounted in a hat or
on my glasses and I turn to look to my left (or heaven
forbid - behind me) - is the sound going to suffer
significantly? Will it be obvious? Will I have to
take my glasses off to turn my head?
So far all I have seriously looked at are the
core-sound mics. I have seen some other similar mics
using audio technica caps... Also are the core-sound
battery box/bass roll-off filter a good deal? Are
there any other recomended boxes? Anyone recomend
Sonic Studios?
I like the idea of buying from core-sound as they seem
to be very easy to deal with, and have been around for
a long time and specialize in live recording.
Reply to list or me personally
thanks for any help, suggestions, comments, thoughts,
etc...

I've got 2 DATs and a CD player all with digital outs, and I'm
shopping for a new receiver that handles multiple digital inputs.
All I want is audio-only, just stereo. No interest in all the extra
"home theater" features that most receivers seem to have now. I'd
like it to handle digital data from Sony DATs.
