The Fall are over halfway through their US tour and
they're playing some brilliant gigs. Mark E. Smith is
really on top form this time around. I caught the
Cambridge, MA and both Knitting Factory, New York shows, and
have very good recordings of Cambridge and night 2 of the
Knitting Factory. (If anyone taped the Sunday night KF show,
*please* get in touch; the line-in jack on my D8 is
causing me problems). Plus I'm looking for any of the other
shows as well.
Remaining tour dates:
7/10 Black Cat, DC
7/11 Cat's Cradle, Carrboro
7/12 Echo Lounge, Atlanta
7/13 House of Blues, New Orleans
7/15 Numbers Night Club, Houston
7/16 Emo's, Austin
7/17 Gypsy Tea Room, Dallas
Huge amount of Fall to trade, plus lots of other bands as
well.
Thanks,
Stefan

Jethro Tull will be touring the US in August and Ian
Anderson will be here in Sept, Oct & Nov for solo
shows. Would like to hook up with folks planning to
tape any of these shows. I'm planning to catch 5-6
shows of each tour.
Have hundreds of Tull/Anderson shows (DAT-CDR-video)
to trade.

PS - Would like European Apr/June/July shows from this year as well!

So what do you need to know? I used one many, many times with my SP Premium
Cardioids/Hypers (AT 933s) and a couple of different MD recorders, an M1,
and a Nomad JB3. I always leave the roll-off at the lowest (least roll-off,
16k I think - off the top of my head). That seems to be the best for
cardioids and hypers. If I had omnis, I might use a little more but I don't
and I like have the directional control to reject the sounds I don't want
(screaming drunks, etc).
Looking back I should have saved myself a few bucks and gotten the non-
roll-off version, but it hasn't been any kind of hindrance. I figure if I
end up with too much bass I can just EQ it out on my PC as long as it didn't
clip. I think I've had one recording that I considered doing that to, but
decided against it. It sounds good if the stereo can handle it.

What's the latest word on how DATs withstand the current airport security
stuff. Any concerns about putting them in checked bags? Carry on? Any
differences between blank and recorded?
Thanks,

So I just picked up an Avenger A635 and some adapters, and
was testing with my Oktava MC012s mounted in AT8410 shockmounts,
on a Shure A27M bar. It turns out to be incredibly sensitive to
even light taps on the stand. Much more so than my heavy
K&M stand that I hate to lug around.
Hasn't anyone else noticed this? Or are people using much heavier
light stands when they want that much height?
I bought it to do an indoor show next week, but I'm not even sure
I want to risk people bumping into it....

Anyone out there need a Taper Tik for the WP 7-20 show at NextStage in Grand
Prairie TX?
I ordered it thru WP website before they made recent taping policy change
about allowing "head high" from any seat at reserved seating shows.
Anyhow, its sec306, rowBBB seat 10 - - next to soundboard.
I cannot make the show and want it to go to good home - at least you can get
mikes way up out of chatter from this seat.
