to be told NO. Not to mention I don't stealth tape because I work in the
industry, if there are any stealth tapers going let me know I would like to
get a copy. If they do allow my rig is 24bit so I'd be happy to

Springsteen doesn't allow taping. Never has, and probably never will. Of
course, despite (or perhaps because of) his anti-taping policy, Springsteen
remains one of the most heavily taped artists around, and I'm sure there
will be plenty of stealth tapers in attendance at the Chicago show.

Dear Dat-Heads. . .
My associate and I are working on a comprehensive tour history/recording
history for The Mars Volta. If you've ever taped them, even if it's wildly
incomplete, we'd really appreciate it if you'd submit any information
regarding source info/setlist for inclusion in the history. A portion of
the information we have so far is collected at
http://www.inertiatic.com/tour/main.html
Please email me with any contributions, and thanks in advance.

I have 3 computers home, networked with DSL through a firewall/router.
I keep Norton Anti Virus running almost always, unlees I'm working with
Sound Forge, or some other editing program. I have one computer that is
purely for music transfers and editing. I don't have any browsers, and
I rarely use it for FTP transfers. I am also still running W98SE on all
3 computers. I had W2K and it was only on one of 3 machines, and It did
nt wrk out for me. I'll get back to that. As I run throough the
Router, I almost never get hit with a Virus Norton doesn't catch
immediately. If I disconnect the cable going from the modem to the
Router, and plug it diectly to the computer, I get slammed with multiple
virus attacks immediately, usually a variation of W.32Kleez. I do this
occassionally, but no more.
Just a weird variation on Virus attacks.
I also see peple posting on this and other lists that W2K and XP are
vastly superior to W98SE. I messed with XP a little, and it's nce, the
interface is a biy different. I had W2K Pro on a Dell, and I didn't
like the way i couldn't get a straight Peer to Peer network. If someone
could say specifivly why one is better, I may switch. In the meantime,
side by side, in a home environment, W2K didn't seem any better than
98SE for stability.

There are those of you reading this post who have followed the career of Howard Markman. A veteran of the local Baltimore music scene since the early 70's, Howard has been in some of the most eclectic bands. You may have his slick guitar work in such bands as Milton Freewater, Extra Extra, Disappear Fear, and many others. He has shared the stage with many national acts such as Ani DiFranco, Roger McGuinn, Indigo Girls, to name a few!
His independently distributed debut solo release called Symptom Recital, has been making quite a splash with the critics. Please support local music. This wonderful compact disc costs just $10.00. Here is the web site to order your copy!

Looking for a NYC-area taper who can receive WFUV to record a session
with Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips to air Saturday night on Idiot's
Delight:
SATURDAY, AUGUST 16
8 PM-Midnight, Vin Scelsa's Idiot's Delight: Vin's guests are Dean
Wareham & Britta Phillips. Dean is the lead vocalist/songwriter with
Luna. Britta joined that band a year or so ago as bass player. They
have just released a side project together L'Avventura on Jetset
Records. They'll perform as a duo. It promises to be a real cool
intimate night.

Much to trade, including a near-complete archive of World Cafe live
sessions going back to late 2000 ( http://www.voicenet.com/~mikeedmo/cdr/ )

I spent 10 hours yesterday getting this out of our network, so I will share
what I've learned

msblast wasnt necessarily on all the affected computers
the best resource, with a small, downloadable seek and destroy tool is:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.htm
l
detailed links for the patch to microsoft's exploit:
http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/security/Content/8205.html
I was able to use a packet sniffer to find the worst offenders (look for
lots of TCP activity, on port 135ish , get them offline first, which at
least got our network running again

hi, i recently taped Lyle Lovett and His Large Band
with a high-end
microphone rig. (i'm leaving the details blank to
discourage
grovellers.) it was a great show with lots of
performances of songs i
haven't seen him do live before.
If anyone else out there has been or will be taping
Lyle with nice gear,
please drop me a line so we can discuss a potential
swap.
oh, and obviously full venue/rig details will be
disclosed if you email
me! :-)
thanks

Hey all....My Tascam CDR-700 burner is out of
commission. The tray doesn't open. Very bad as I
have masters piling up that need to be transfered.
Does anyone know of a seervice place in the
chicagoland area that is reliable and trustworthy to
get this repair done. I've been looking into sending
it to pro-digital but I'd rather not pay the shipping
and worry about damage from shipping. Any advice is
welcome. Thanks in advance.

Eliminating the new worm, known as MSBLASTER, is fairly simple
and does not require downloading Microsoft's patch.
If you're running Windows XP (or Windows 2000, Server 2003, and
certain features in NT 4), simply go to your network settings, click
on the "advanced" tab, and turn the Firewall "ON". This may
prevent you from doing certain network operations such as file
sharing, in which case, more advanced firewall software and/or
Microsoft's patch may help.
If you are already infected with the virus (or think you might be), do
a file search for the name MSBLAST*.* and delete any files with
this name. Then reboot. If you are unable to use your computer
because of the virus, do a "control-alt-delete," choose "task
manager," and if you see the task "MSBLASTER" in the list, click
on it and choose "end task."
The problem with looking specifically for MSBLASTER is that the
name could "mutate" if other people copy the virus and re-release it
with a different name.
Hope this is helpful...

I'm looking for a home DAT deck that has peak level meters that hold
indefinitely, instead of resetting every few seconds. The Sony M1 has this
feature, but I wondered if there are/were any home decks that also have it?
Info on any make/models would be appreciated, even older models that can
only be found used, on Ebay, etc. Thanks,
