My non taper friend is stuck with these tickets and asked if I knew anyone
who would want them. I thought I'd try here since I know there are some
Neil young tapers out there. From these seats you can make a great stack
tape as long as you don't mind stealthing. He was going out to the west
coast for a business trip, sufficed to say he's no longer with the company.
These are great tickets, and surprisingly Ticketmaster refused him a refund,
they are located in SEC C ROW 6 (six rows from front stage)
He just wants face, a tape would be a nice touch too but that's not a
priority for him. Total charges after Ticketmaster was $181.90.
email me off list
Thanks

Adding my .02 from California, where it's not past midnight, If I didn't
have markings, or even if I did have markings that Dolby was used, I'd
give it the Ear test. I'd Do the A>D conversion, which fr me amoounts
to CASS>A>D converter>Delta Dio 2496 (coax), and record it to my HD,
asnd burn it, and listen to it. If it sounds good, great. If it sounds
shitty, oh well, see what yoou want to do to clean it up. Simply, I'd
probably ad some graphic EQ, based on the sound to me. Personally what
little recording I did in the 70's, of friends bands and acoustic duo's,
trio's etc, are hopefully long lost. I know i the 70's and 80's I, and
what friends I had that had any recorders universally found Dolby
sucked, in our opinion, and I never used it in my recording, wether
copying a record or recording some friends playing. The only tapes I
got to transfer from cassette were thankfully not marrked for Dolby. I
use DBX on my X-1000, but no dolby b,c, or s ever.

I was transferring a couple ABB shows over to my hard drive via Sound Forge.
I usually do files as large as the cd I am making and split it into tracks
with CD Wave. I was in process to split the second half of the show when
about 43:00 into the splits the sound sped up. I had listened to the show
as it was transfered from DAT. Everything was normal. I had over 20GB left
on my harddrive so space wasnt an issue. I deleted the file and re did it
from the DAT. Same problem but at a different point in the file.
Any one else with a similar problem or solution.

Subject: FW: Alpine Valley - Radiohead Taping
Date: Mon, 18 Aug 2003 06:27:24 -0500
I am planning on seeing Radiohead next weekend at Alpine Valley. Correct
me if I am wrong, but Alpine, like most venues, has a no taping policy.
I have not seen a Radiohead taping policy but due to the plethora of
recordings circulating, I imagine they are ok with it. My question is
will I have to stealth and sneak my gear in or can I rely on Radiohead's
'taping policy' to let me past security. Any help would be extremely
appreciated. Now that I've upgraded from a MD to a D8, I am worried
about 'crotchability'. Thanks.

Since Booby D is not sharing with us, I wonder if anyone who taped would be
so kind as to make me dubs of July 29 and 30? It's really a shame they had
to break up the movie
by taking his tunes off of the Dead's OCRS recordings. Wonder what is he
scard of?

FLAC uses it's own internal checksum. Running an external md5 is
unnecessary. Just create a 'FLAC Fingerprint File' You SHOULD NOT use
md5sum to create a checksum for FLAC Files.

Subject: Dolby Noise Reduction
Date: Mon, 18 Aug 2003 08:04:52 -0600
There have been a few responses to threads regarding how to deal with Dolby
B and C noise reduction. Some even brought up Dolby A, which was never used
as a consumer format. All good formats, still in wide use today which
underscores their robust noise reduction capabilities.
Rather than take up bandwidth and go point by point by point, suffice it to
say I've seen no responses that indicate that the poster has much of a clue
about what Dolby noise reduction is, less understanding of how it operates,
tape operating levels or even recording history, therefore misleading any
and all that read the response.
If one is to offer opinionated "solutions", one should at least have a basic
understanding of the process. This will result in some education of those
who don't know and reduce the posts with the blanket answer "just use an
equalizer" or similar naive response to bolster someone's perception of
reality and therefore starting a whole generation of tape transfers that are
just plain friggin' *wrong*.
So for those that can't, won't or don't or for those that might just want to
learn something here is a starting link:
http://dolby.com/ken/
I have been an recording and broadcast engineer and Dolby dealer for over
four decades and have been to Dolbyland for training many, many times.
Dolby.com has a wealth of of information, both technical and informative on
all things related to Dolby, not just noise reduction.
Thanks!

Date: Mon, 18 Aug 2003 11:17:19 -0400
I got far more requests for this offer than I
can handle. I need to be a bit more precise
with my offer. I will send out 2 complete sets
of this Phall 1997 offer for free No B, no P.
That is 10 CDs each, total of 20 discs, which
is all the energy I can muster. I will pick 2
people who are willing to continue to spread this
via B&P. You must be able to re-offer this to
either digiphish or DATheads upon receipt. I
will notify these lists to look for you to make
the offer. Obviously, you need to be able to
burn 90 min CDRs successfully (as well as have
some available).
Please get in touch with me if you want to get
these and re-offer as a B-n-P. Plenty of pholks
seem eager to get their hands on these shows.
Take Care-
