The tapes I have are mostly auds and a few soundboards recorded in small clubs and later on in university halls - some of them are very good and don't really need messing with. I was just trying to get the best transfer possible whilst I had a loan of the tape deck. I realise that there isn't a magic bullet solution for all the tapes and it would seem that most of the improvements can be made, if I want to, once I've got the tape onto my HD. I'm not a fan of messing with stuff too much so I may elect to leave them as-is once transferred as I just don't want them to rot in the box they've been hiding in. I've decided to take the approach that if they sound good then don't mess and if they don't, they may need a bit more help than worrying about dolby. This year is Toronto. From what I hear, a SF writer, Spider Robinson, will have a concert there. He is supposedly very good.
