It appears to be the capsule, not the barrel. They were *two weeks* out of warranty and the distributor won't fix them. I asked on the Sonar newsgroup, where many use the mics, and it was suggested that they could be cleaned at the connection points, and there was a website or list about this. I know there are 012 users here, too. Anybody have any ideas, or know about the site with cleaning info? Thanks, Dennis ------------------------------ From: D Lee Subject: bands that allow taping Date: Tue, 26 Aug 2003 20:58:16 -0700 (PDT) does anybody know what the taping policy is for this band? http://www.matteblack.com/minikiss/ don't have a lot of trading leisure time at the moment, but i'll make an exception for video of these folks... and triumph the insult dog comic not triumph the canadian heavy metal hair farmers -- thanks. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? He always play some incredible shows there. I'd really like a copy of these shows, anyone planning to record this. thanks ------------------------------ From: bth_away Subject: Re: adding track marks to a .wav file Date: Wed, 27 Aug 2003 03:35:21 -0700 (PDT) I've found that the best tool for splitting tracks into individual WAV files OR creating CUE sheets is by using CDWave (www.cdwave.com or http://www.homepages.hetnet.nl/~mjmlooijmans/cdwave/). It's very simple to use and is better than using SoundForge or CoolEdit to split the tracks because it splits the tracks on the 2352 byte/ 588 sample borders. CDWave is so good because it splits the tracks correctly in the correct spots as to prevent clicking in live recordings. This is from the FAQ: "Why is splitting on 2352 byte/588 sample borders so important? A CD audio disc is divided into sectors. Each sector holds 1/75 seconds of audio, or 588 samples at 44100 samples per second, or 2352 bytes. If the size of a WAV recording is not a multiple of 588 samples, the recording software will fill the remainder of the sector with zeroes. If you have a continuous recording (live), you’ll hear a short click in between two songs, as a result of the padding zeroes. To prevent this, the program always cuts on 588 sample borders, so two adjacent songs will have no clicks in between." Good luck. Bryan __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! (I > used to use CDRwin - but there must be an easier way these days). basically, you don't "add" ANYTHING to the wavefile all you have to do is write a simple TEXT file called a cuesheet that maps out exactly where you want the trackmarks to go you then load the cuesheet into your burning program - and viola! a fully tracked show CDRWIN supports cuesheets (i think they "invented" them) so does EAC i don't use NERO & don't know if it does or not below is an example cuesheet for a show i just mastered to CD-R the cuesheet is simply a TEXT file, called "ironmaiden-camden-7-23-03.cue" >>>>>>>>> FILE ironmaiden-camden-7-23-03.wav WAVE TRACK 01 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 TRACK 02 AUDIO INDEX 01 05:21:71 TRACK 03 AUDIO INDEX 01 09:35:04 TRACK 04 AUDIO INDEX 01 15:34:60 TRACK 05 AUDIO INDEX 01 21:32:34 TRACK 06 AUDIO INDEX 01 31:02:09 TRACK 07 AUDIO INDEX 01 34:45:32 TRACK 08 AUDIO INDEX 01 42:15:46 TRACK 09 AUDIO INDEX 01 51:35:67 TRACK 10 AUDIO INDEX 01 56:25:53 TRACK 11 AUDIO INDEX 01 63:57:64 TRACK 12 AUDIO INDEX 01 70:02:06 TRACK 13 AUDIO INDEX 01 75:39:50 <<<<<<<<< EXPLANATIONS: (it is really simple!) (1) the first line in the cuesheet is the FILE statement this statement contains the filename of the wavefile that you are going to burn, and also identifies the format of the file (wave) for example: FILE ironmaiden-camden-7-23-03.wav WAVE if you store the WAVfile & the cuesheet file in the same directory path, you need not include any path information in the FILE line, but if you keep them in seperate directories, you will need to add the full drive/directory path info i actually find it better though to NOT include any path information with the file, as that can cause headaches later if you've archived the file elsewhere & want to burn it again but forget that the path in the cuesheet is pointing somewhere else!!! so just list the filename instead without the drive/directory info - this will work fine as long as you keep the wavfile and the cuesheet IN THE SAME directory! (2) after the file statement comes the 1st "TRACK" statement....not much to it....just track # and the word "AUDIO" for example: TRACK 01 AUDIO since i identified 13 songs that i wanted trackmarks, there are 13 TRACK statements, from TRACK 01, 02, ....up to 13 (3) after each TRACK statement comes the "INDEX 01" statement which identifies where you want the trackmark to go timewise time is broken down in the INDEX 01 sttmt as MINUTE:SECOND:FRAME (a frame is 1/75th of a second and this field can range from 00 to 74) you specify the time for each trackmark as how far from the beginning of the disc you want the trackmark; not how far from the last trackmark for the first track this should be the start of the disc, which is 00:00:00 IMPT. POINT: note that the "01" in the INDEX sttmt does NOT mean that it corresponds to the first track!!! there are different types of INDEX sttmts that use different #s (INDEX 00 for "pre-gaps") that are not needed for what i'm discussing (simply creating a cuesheet to burn a wavefile with "standard" trackmarks) just remember that for ALL of your trackmarks you will be using INDEX sttmts that use the same number - "01"!!!! each seperate trackmark then gets it's own set of "TRACK xx AUDIO" and corresponding "INDEX 01 yy:yy:yy" statements, where xx=the track number, and yy=the exact time of where you want the trackmark to be it's not necessary to include the indentations that i used in the above example, i just find it easier to read & see where each mark is once you write one cuesheet, you can simply copy it & edit it over & over again, changing just the parts that you need for each file, no need to even remember what the original format was like in order to get the exact times that you want to use for the trackmarks, make sure that whatever waveditor you are using allows you to set it's time display in something like "COMPACT DISC FORMAT - MINUTES:SECONDS:FRAMES" i use COOLEDIT2k for mastering shows & it very easily can be changed to use that format view i do not recall if SOUNDFORGE will let you do that or not note that the most common mistake that i see people make with cuesheets is to inadvertantly have blank spaces at the end of the filename in the FILE statement, due to copying cuesheets over and replacing names for new projects, but not deleting trailing blanks from the ends of the lines or whatever a very EZ way to avoid that problem is to use a special CDCUESHEET writing program, like CDRCue at http://www.dcsoft.com/prod03.htm it is inexpensive (around $15) & well worth every penny, it allows you to fidget with each track placement & listen to them to be sure they are correct, all kinds of useful stuff i give it 2 thumbs up for making the mastering chores that much easier hope this helps & is of interest to the group at large, - jon - slipkid@voicenet.com ------------------------------ From: jcarvalh Subject: Looking for Boston Blur 2003 Date: Wed, 27 Aug 2003 19:08:30 -0400 (EDT) Or any other local Blur shows (ala NYC).
