From: "Gary Davis" <g@hoxnet.com> Subject: D7 A>D Reply-to: g@hoxnet.com Date: Mon, 1 Sep 2003 23:02:49 -0700 There is absolutely nothing wrong with the A>D in a D7. It's the mic preamp which leaves much to be desired. If you can go through the line input, you will get stellar recordings. --Gary
From: "Bob Siegl" <kindnation@hotmail.com> Subject: pro dig. fixing tapes? Date: Tue, 02 Sep 2003 14:37:37 +0000 I wouldnt send a broken record to pro digital either. they fix machines, not tapes. they'd do the same thing as you would - sit there with some tape and a little screw driver. if it helps, i "fixed" a tape once... but it still will not play at the break. determine what the ABS is at the break. tape it together. you can get fancy by applying a tiny bit of tape to opposite sides and then joining the scotch tape (not the media). when you transfer, stop ahead of the break and manually advance the tape then resume. you probably ought to ff and rw a few times before this but will most likely have to stop at the break each time or the tape will crumple again. key is keep it tight. From: ijwthstd <ijwthstd@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: Repairing broken tapes Date: Thu, 28 Aug 2003 10:03:39 -0700 (PDT) Whatever you do, dont send it to Pro Digital. Not if you ever want to see it again. _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam? From: "Ed Buckel" <edventure69@hotmail.com> Subject: Radiohead DOES ALLOW TAPING Date: Tue, 2 Sep 2003 12:02:55 -0400 After reading about the experience about recording radiohead, i shared the story with a few others. They said that they had went to the vancouver and seattle shows last weekend and were talking to the soundboard guys. The soundboard guys said that they allow at least one person to record off the soundboard at every show and for some shows they've had as many as 3 people recording directly from the board. In Seattle, there were apparently two people connected to the board. I don't know how true any of this is, its just things that I've heard from others, but I don't think it'd hurt to try. There are still a lots of good dates left and a nice matrix of an audience and sbd would be so nice. Ed www.msu.edu/~buckeled

Reply-To: <kdudzik@dietrichdesigngroup.com> Date: Tue, 2 Sep 2003 17:05:42 -0500 Hi, If you don't already know who Chris Whitley is, you don't know what you're missing. Please go and tape him, even if you don't know who he is go to a show just to get some practice recording. You'll definitely love it. His music is the most original I've seen in years. He allows taping through the sound board. I have recorded him through the board a few times and I hope to find more tapers out there who can tape him. He just finished a small tour in Australia and is heading over for a tour of Europe. Did anyone in Australia or the U.S. catch him? If there are tapers in Europe who can record him, plug in and let me know, I need a copy! Check out his website, buy his cds! http://chriswhitley.com/ If you have some new shows, please email me @ samegawa@hotmail.com Thanks! Ken
