Subject: Re: Mastering Help (please) Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2003 20:33:56 -0700 My favorite method is to first try to observe how much that they are/have been drinking. If they are obviously buzzed on the alcohol skip to sec. (B) If they seem sober then go to sec. (A) (A) Buy them the biggest glass of the cheapest wine you can find, encourage them to drink freely. move to (B) (B) Bust out that fattie in your pocket and encourage them to smoke freely Admittedly, I have never been through plan (A) but plan (B) has been quite effective in more than one circumstance. ;) hehe, just some ol concert humor here, I really have nothing of worth to add but I do appreciate the earlier posts on this subject. I do have a few mono-ish stereo recordings that could use some spatial help. The only thing I would add is that it might be nice to put the batteries in a small plastic project case available at Radio Shack. This would protect the batteries during use. Of course, it would take some more time to change them, since most cases are held together with screws. The author of the page says you can expect 15+ hours (probably with minimal backlight). Depending on when that was written, and what mAh batteries he is using, you may be able to do better. They are available from 4500mAh to 11,000mAh. See: http://thomas-distributing.com/ I purchased 200mAh 9V batteries from them for my preamp, the highest capacity on the market. Also, don't forget to put the power jack cap on the wire _before_ you solder the wires to the jack. That's my most common mistake. You can also buy some heatshrink tubing to use in a similar fashion to provide a strain relief. Yeah, that's a very very bad thing to do and will most likely lead to your getting busted. People usually have no idea what you mean when you say you're taping and often times will go and report you out of sheer ignorance. You're better off firing up a fat joint and passing it around the screamers, it's hard to scream when you're in a coma you know :) Stealthing is more about luck than skill. Sometimes you're going to be in really bad crowds, sometimes you'll be able to hear a pin drop. That's the way it goes. If it's a general admission situation and you can move easily, try that. If not, grin and bear it and realize that even a screamer filled tape is better than no tape at all.
