CF and SD cards can be read by an USB2 or Firewire card reader in your desktop system. Wifi can be used on systems equipped with it. Another possibility, being tested by Core Sound, is the Addonics Pocket ExDrive which can give you lots more capacity than current CF drives and flash memory and is pluggable into a desktop system equipped with PCMCIA. Early indications from Len are that it can maintain throughput required to record at 24-bit/48kHz. http://www.addonics.com http://www.tjotala.com/hardware/storagebrick/ Gordon www.gidluckmastering.com ------------------------------ From: cheeseguy usuck Subject: anyone have any equip to sell? Lots to trade. Be Well, John ------------------------------ From: Dave Subject: FT: Dressy Bessy 9/20/03 Date: Sat, 04 Oct 2003 16:01:32 -0400 I taped Dressy Bessy at the Grog Shop in Cleveland Hts. 2 weeks ago. It is a fine audience recording made in a small club. If interested, send your list privately. It was recorded via Sound Professionals mics->battery box->D7 and mastered using T-Racks. Dave ------------------------------ From: "CJ Kantner" Subject: FS: Stock SBM-1 Date: Fri, 03 Oct 2003 12:44:30 -0400 I have a stock Sony SBM-1 for sale. I love this little box, so much so, that I got a mod-sbm-1 to replace it! The unit is in mint condition, and could pass as new. It has always been transported and stored in an airtight pelican hard case. It has the original 7pin sony end, and can run for about 2.5hrs on 4 AA batteries, or you can run a 6V SLA as I did. Comes with the original pleather case that holds the sbm-1 & a portable sony dat, and manual. These are getting harder and harder to find, and rest assured you will not find one in better shape. Looking to get $375 including shipping. Thanks for tuning in... Date: Sat, 4 Oct 2003 14:16:52 -0700 (PDT) I wanted to post what I think is the answer for me. (Seth helped me figure it out.) I use DAT mainly for "archiving" lps. (Stupid example, Humble Pie has lots of lps/CDs. But I like some more than others, some tracks, but not others. So I use a couple of DATs to compile just what I like. Can do the same thing with CD-R/RW, but I like the 2 hr limit of DAT.) So, if I want better than 16/44, I can use ... DADs. The Digital Audio Disc format is un-copyright protected 24/96 recorded on a DVD-V compatible disc. But I couldn't see that consumer DVD burners don't actually have digital audio inputs. Seth helped me put 2 and 2 together to get ... a PC DVD burner. Now, I have to learn about DVD-R/RW+/- etc formats! Oh yeah, stupid question: no pro DVD burners yet with digital audio inputs? My other desire is to be able to record say 5 lps length of 16/44 on a DVD recordable disc. (PC burner will do it, but just curious if there are pro burners yet. I have an HHB pro CD burner and really like it.) DAT-Heads rocks... __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo!
