" The closest turntable I can think of to that price range would be the Music Hall MMF2. I wouldn't bother to make CDR's off this table, but its a decent entry level turntable. If you want to get DAT's or CDR's recorded I would find someone with a "real" high end turntable to do the playback on. I did this for a friend (I have a Michell Gyrodec w/ SME 309 arm and Koetsu Rosewood Signature catridge - about a $7,000 outlay). If you have not heard highend analog you are in for a treat. While digital has advantages in terms of Taping shows analog almost always sounds more alive. The better the turntable the better the recording will be. I run a DAP1 with radio shack PZMs and my recordings are excellent. The mics are not modified, this is something I'd like to do. My question is, will the 48v phantom power the DAP1 provides fry the mics (which I've never known to use higher than 3v DC)? I'd love to rewire them without the battery box and use the phantom power. Other suggestions are very welcome. Thank you Aadam __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Date: Mon, 6 Oct 2003 16:00:30 -0400 hey gang, wondering if anybody out there (keith, how 'bout it ?) can offer advice on a good record player in the $100 to $150...if that's possible. reason: a friend just scored a bunch of out-of-print jazz LPs (mingus, joni mitchell, et al), and we wish to be able to a) listen to them b) convert them to CD. any tips in that regard are also cool; i am familiar with the basics on CD conversion from DATs, so anything specific to converting LPs is welcome advice for me. _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8. It is probably the best-sounding portable ADC out there-- comparable to Meintner, dCS, etc. It will feed 2 different sources at different bit depths and various sample rates if desired (from 16-bit/44.1 to 24-bit/96). I am selling because I have gone multi-track and no longer need this.
