I've been lurking on this interesting list for some time now without
posting but something weird happened last weekend I wanted to pass on.
Since I got my D8, I've been warned not to travel with batteries or tape
inside the unit. I have been very consistent in not doing this. However, I
was only removing the batteries from the D8 in their plastic tray and then
leaving them in that. Last weekend I went to insert the batteries into the
D8 and it wouldn't fit. Boggled, I looked carefully and realized the metal
piece that holds the spring had pushed right through the plastic...as if
the plastic was soft and the pressure of the springs pushed it through the
soft plastic. Somehow the batteries shorted out I guess and melted it! I
am 99% sure I had the batteries in the correct position, but i was using
the cheapo rayovacs. Moral is, I won't be leaving the
batteries in the battery tray anymore (Luckily, Dale Pro Audio had an
extra tray in
stock, their store on E. 20th street in Manhattan is very convenient!)
cheers

Hi
I was wondering if I could get a dat copy of Rolling
Stones 1-30-03 Phoenix . I recorded that (csbs>bass
filter off>d100)but I was told there is another
recording out there with better sound. Just wondered
if I could trade for a copy, either a dat clone or
maybe it was recorded with minidisc, I dont know. The
recording I made was out in Feb 2003, then the 2nd
source came out after that. My recording had a lot of
bass (bass filter was off, oops).

Thanks for the info, but one last question....don't mean to take over the
question from Karl, but...
Given the equipment is available, such as a Mixpad (as I just happen to
own),
would it be easier just to mix and record both sources at the time of
recording
on the same media?
Or would this create a timing problem between sources? My guess is that it
could, since the sound in the air could be delayed from the "wired" sound.

Dave

following are for sale:
2 AKG 480 bodies w/ck63 (cardiod) capsules - $800
Apogee AD1000 w/woden box and two power/spdif cables (new word clock, recently
serviced, still under warranty) $600
Sound Devices MP2 - (power jack loose, one xlr connector sticky but never
loses signal) $250

3ft pair monster xlr cables
2 AT 8410a shock mounts
AKG T-bar
DPA "big ass" windscreens
Bogen Manfrotto stand silver, 12' (i think)
Would like to sell as a package, but would consider selling the mics, mp2, and

Has anyone ever seen a wall plate with a toslink coupler in it? I'd like to
clean up some cabling and I think that would be so much nicer than the cable
strung through the little hole that I currently have. A quick google search
has turned up places with both toslink stuff and wall plates for other
applications, but no toslink wall plates.
Let me know if you where to get such a thing (if it exists). Thanks!
