Hey all I'm searching for the entire performance of this year's Bridge School
Benefit featuring Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Wilco etc. Both nights. I have plenty
to trade. Prefer CD.
Thanks,

Hey kids
My friend and I did Spiritualized at Bimbo's last night, and the set was
1:58:59 or so, so you need a 2hour dat, plus the "entrance" music is about 4 or 5
minutes, and sort of segues to the first song... my problem was taping all the
entrance music, and missing out on the final minute or two of the "jam" for
the final song. He didn't tape the entrance music so his set is complete :-)
Great show, so if you tape, just keep this in mind. No encore (as usual),
and for safety you may want a 124minute audio DAT if you want both entrance
music and complete set.
Happy taping
Mike

Subject: battery woes....
Date: Wed, 12 Nov 2003 19:35:49 -0500
A good low cost solution to storing batteries so that something dosen't
short them out is to place them in a small ziplock baggie before putting
them your gearbag....the plastic bags are also easy to write on with a
marker, so that the date of purchase and amount of time used on the
batteries can be noted....
One trick that works great for rechargable batteries is to recondition them
by discharging a large capacitor through the battery: All you need is a
small 12-volt power supply (dosen't have to be regulated....you can even use
a car battery for this if you're that cheap and don't have much of a
workbench), a resistor of a few thousand ohms (resistance value is
uncritical, use at least a 1/2 watt resistor....salvage from some piece of
electronic junk, or buy one at Radio Shack for a few cents), a large value
capacitor (value not critical....anything above 10-20 microfarads <uf>
should do...this component can be salvaged from an old tv or piece of stereo
equipment, the voltage rating MUST be above the power supply voltage), and
the physical means of making electrical connections between the above items
and the battery. Treating each battery individually, first discharge it
completely through the resistor....you can either leave the battery hooked
up to the resistor for the required period of time (battery voltage in volts
divided by the resistor value in ohms gives you the discharge current in
amps, divide the battery's amp-hour rating by the discharge current in amps,
the resulting number will be the time in hours required for a complete
discharge, assuming that the battery is fully charged) or if you want to get
fancy about it, insert an ammeter into the circuit and you'll be able to see
the discharge current drop to zero. Once the battery is fully discharged,
connect the capacitor across the power supply to charge it (observe correct
polarity, it should only take a few seconds to charge). Again observing
correct polarity, remove the charged capacitor from the power supply and
immediately connect it to the battery without any resistance in the
circuit....this discharges the capacitor through the battery. Charge the
capacitor and discharge it through the battery several times. Now the
battery should charge normally and fully....if it dosen't, discharge the
battery again and repeat the process. This will allow you to save at least
90% of those batteries that no longer will take a full charge! You can
build yourself a nice little workstation for this task, or if you're like
me, you can do it with a bunch of clipleads strewn around your
workbench.....either way, it's easy, low-cost, and effective. For the
technically curious, what happens is that a path of resistance forms in the
battery's electrolyte with time and use, partially shorting it and not
allowing it to charge fully....the pulse of high current caused by
discharging the capacitor will burn out this path of resistance but will not
be strong or long lasting enough to harm the battery. Just remember to
NEVER discharge or charge a battery without a significant amount of
resistance in the circuit to limit the current.....have fun!

Hey all,
I got a chance to catch Pat DiNizio solo on 11/21 (in
a taper-friendly club) closely followed by his band The Smithereens on 12/7.
In checking the BTAT list I can't
find info yay or nay on either & have had no luck with
obtaining direct contact info. I'm hopin' that someone
out there may have the skinny & can enlighten me.
TIA for any assistance y'all can offer!!

Yes, really, I haven't had a deck in over two years now, but somehow I've
discovered a box of tapes that wasn't given away when I gave over 1000 tapes
away a couple of years ago.
Plenty of good Phish in here (likely stuff you don't have), SBD Greyboy
Allstars, etc. All good stuff. All things I was once proud to own (when I
had decks, of course).
I don't have time to allocate...first person who wants to send two big size
bubble mailers with $7-$8 postage on each can have them. Favor back to the
list, and those who miss out, by spinning blanks and postage or
whatever...re-offer up what you already have, etc.
Not at all a requirement, but if you can put my friend onto a face value New
Years ticket (he got 12/28-12/30 from mailorder), then you're a prince.
Thanks.

Does anyone know the date or perhaps the year?
thanks!

Well, after archiving most of my DATs to CD I'm finally selling my Tascam
DA20 mkII. The deck is in great condition and is as good as new since Pro
Digital just replaced the heads on the deck last month. I've had it about 4
years. Shipping is additional but if you live in the Philly area I can
physically meet up. Best Offers considered.
E-mail me at sokhi2@earthlink.net (serious offers only!)

hi,
i'm looking for anyone who's taped lyle lovett with
high end gear in the
last few years. anyone? i can't be the only one!
i've done two shows this
year with my mbho 603a/ka200n > mp2 > d8 setup.
tuesday night's show in DC
was immense, and probably the best sounding venue i've
been in in ages.
tape sounds accordingly strong.
drop me a line if you've got the goods. i only want
responses from folks
who tape lyle -- i've got everything in common
circulation already, believe
me, and i'm not doing any b&p or non-lyle trades for
these. thanks.

Back on the market, i hate to part with it, but can't justify keeping it right now.
I bought it about 6 months ago from another taper. It has relatively low hours and before it was sold to me was given a clean bill of health by prodigital. The hours meter reads about 4 out of 10, which i believes means 400 hours, which isn't much for one of these. This thing is a tank. It has full sized heads and a 4 motor transport, similar to the HHb Portadat. Loads tapes in seconds. I have never had a problem with it. It's got some road wear, but nothing serious.
I have all of the necessary accessories:
-DCP-80 for accepting DC power
-4 pin xlr to rt angle power cable to use the dcp-80 w/sla's
-12 pin digi in/out AES cable
-coax to xlr/aes adapter for taking coax input
-acp-80 ac adapter for home a/c operation
pretty rare to find the whole package rolled up and ready to go.
I have a 12v homebrew sla and charger that were given to me by the seller that i've never used. will throw that in if you want it.
i have pictures if you are interested.
$850 plus shipping firm.
