Without offset compensation, you cannot make exact duplicates
of audio CDs using cdrecord and cdparanoia. I verified this
a couple of years ago and unless the utilities have been
updated this is still the case unless you are using one of
the plextor drives with 0 read/write offsets.
I just double checked the man page for cdrecord and I still
can't locate any parameter for adjusting the write offset. Does
cdparanoia now allow allow you to specify the read offset in
the same way as EAC?
If you don't mind copies that are not exact on the image
boundaries and want to use linux to rip/burn CDRs, you might
consider using the GCDMaster GUI frontend to cdparanoia and
cdrecord. That will allow you to rip one big image,
graphically edit track mark positions, and then write CDs
using a unified interface. Take a look at XCDRoast too.
BTW, why do people insist on burning with CDWave when you can
rip, edit que sheets, and write a CDR using just EAC? Does
CDWave allow write offset compensation?

anything else would be great! Looking for things like Lonnie Smith,
Larry Goldings, Sam Yahel etc. I can send a list for trades.

When I hook my D8 to my PC through a 7pin active > digital in on a
Nightingale Pro 6. It sometimes works fine and allows me to transfer
but sometimes the minute I plug the D8 in this horrible screaching noise
comes through the speakers. And if I try to play the tape it's
inaudible. This has started happening more frequently and I've tried
normal/reverse format but besides that have no clue. Anyone know a way
to stop this?

This program returns the media code identifier of CD-R discs that
identifies manufacturer and write strategy (dye type.) It works with
most SCSI-3 compliant recorders.

i was watching some dylan footage the other day.
the footage was a few gens down the line and has a bit of fuzz around the
edges. noticing the GIGANTIC white boots he was wearing, i couldnt help but
think the size of these boots was hardly natural. i guess my question is,
when video gets a bit fuzzy, is it normal for it to make things look much
larger than they actually are - or does bobby d wear a shaq size shoe? just
curious and this has been bothering me for days.
