He plays S&G all the time at our restaurant, and usually sings a few after a couple shots of whiskey taboot. Yeah he sings, pretty well, he actually used to be a lounge singer on a cruise ship.. anyhoo, They have tix for the Sunday show, so if any of you are planning on running for this, i would really appreciate it if you could keep me in mind.. Have MUCH to trade, and what the hey, willing to go two for one. also, can trade in any fashion.. smart ftp, bt, snail, etc. Many thanks, and happy holidays! -Mike _________________________________________________________________ Winterize your home with tips from MSN House & Home. http://special.msn.com/home/warmhome.armx ------------------------------ From: "DCA" Subject: Re: DAT-heads Digest #954 Reply-To: "DCA" Date: Thu, 11 Dec 2003 17:54:07 -0500 Roland, Sounds like a sample rate mismatch to me. The DAT is probably outputting 48 kHz, while the MD recorder may only accept 44.1 kHz. Check with your owner's manuals. There is a possibility it is adjutable. These then go into 5 1/4" disc boxes, you know the ones for floppy discs. I can get many of these disc boxes at thrift shops for very cheap or for free at work when someone finally decides to clean out their office. The portables don't have optical outputs, and if it's a home deck you'll have to get around the dreaded SCMS. Even if you have the copy protection disabled on the DAT, you'll still get the SCMS signal from the MD. This will definitely be the case if you're trying to record from a source that's a recording of something else. You may have to resort to an analog connection, or invest in an SCMS stripper. I've been using MD's, as well as DAT's, for quite a few years so feel free to email me off list if you have any qestions. Date: Thu, 11 Dec 2003 21:31:53 -0500 Several people asked me for the responses I got to my post a few days ago looking for receiver recommendations -- just wanted to say that only 2 people responded who weren't wanting info - one of which simply said "AVR225 at ecost" and the other said he'd bought an Onkyo at hifi.com. Not terribly useful but I figured I'd pass it on (and mention it again in case anybody else wants to make a recommendation for a decent receiver in the <$500 price range).... I have asked this question before in the 24bit format, but wanted to know about 16 bit format. If I have a DAT at 48khz, and want to split the tracks into seperate songs, and archive to either 48khz flac, or shn and then resample the 48khz>44.1khz in CD wave editor to make a CDR at the marked 48khz split tracks, will CD wave editor do this correctly? or will it create a "gap" or a "click" between tracks since the timing is slightly different between 48khz and 44.1khz. Or is simply better to resample 48khz>44.1khz before splitting the tracks in CD Wave editor? I wanted to "preserve" the DAT in a losseless codec at its original frequency, but have it split into tracks. I would like to have the ability to convert those same 48khz spit tracks to CDR at 44.1khz without having to "re-split" the wave for 44.1khz. Any help would be appreciated. Furthermore, am I able to use CD Wave editor to split my 48khz tracks to encode to flac, or shn? Finally what is the "split on sector boundaries" box on Front-end Flac meant for? will it re-align the tracks to sector boundaries if the track was split off sector? Some users reported using Discwelder Steel via "Virtual PC" on their Mac's, but it sounds like you may already have a PC, so running an emulator is probably not really worth it. The newest version of Discwelder Steel is the ONLY application for ANY platform that I'm aware of that will burn seamless DVD-A discs in the sub $1000 price range.
